Tom James wins 2017 Brechfa Rally After a year’s break from any form of motorsport the Brechfa forest was again the venue for the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club Athlete King sponsored Brechfa Rally which attracted a near full entry of 120 riders. This year the event moved its start venue to Brynllewelyn Farm on Llanllwni Mountain which gave riders a great paddock with hard standing parking, camping and the use of out buildings for cover which the club made great use of for signing on and a Saturday night BBQ. Saturday saw the first group of riders away at 10am on the 26 mile lap
which they would have to tackle four times. The lap used part of the
Llanllwni Mountain before heading into the Trawscoed forest block for a mix
of forestry roads and green lane sections. The special test which would
determine the overall results of the event started just above the village of
Gwernogle. It was approx. 4 miles in length and was a true cross country
test including, forestry track, green fields, testing hill climbs and rocky
tracks, it would finish up the valley at Brynllewelyn Farm. Once at the farm
the riders had an opportunity to refuel and get a bite to eat before they
started out on their next lap. To date the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club have donated over £32,000 to local and national charities from events held in the local area with this year again seeming to be on course for another great start to the year ahead.
