Lee Green takes the honors on the Tour of Portugal Roadbook Rally

Lee Green charged back on the last day to take the overall win on the Tour of Portugal rally after a roadbook navigation error saw him loose time on day 1 of the rally.

Dave Chislett held onto second place after being in the lead on day 1 and 2, but a crash on the slippery SS3 resulted in bruised and cracked ribs and battling on he eventually lost time to Lee Green.

The third place man was Chris Barwick of Desert Rose whose expert navigation always means he is at the sharp end on roadbook rallies.

The Tour of Portugal Rally is a three day roadbook event set in the heart of Portugal and run by RallyMoto and Portugal Offroad. This year saw 50 riders complete in the event with al the riders coming from the UK. The rally is run in the same manner as an international event and is intended to be a stepping stone event for UK riders then wish to go on to do bigger rallies.

The 2017 course was 230km on Day 1, 160km on day 2 with a shorter last day of 120km - the terrain for the event was varied and the navigation in places was challenging.

Chris Foster and Mike Wells, the 2016 ATRC champions for Overall and Rally Class competed in the overseas event as their prize for winning their respective classes in the UK rally series.
