Victory in the Italian Championship for Matteo Cavallo
It was an unforgettable day today for Matteo Cavallo who won the overall in the fifth round of the 2017 Italian Championship / Maxxis Cup in Viverone - BI . The 22 year old Beta Boano rider was the first Junior to stand on the top step of the podium in the National Championship.
The halfway point in the season was impeccably organised by Motoclub Azeglio and featured three stages: the Enduro Test, the Cross Airoh Test and Extreme X-CUP Maxxis - Galfer. The sun and the heat did the rest,
In E1 the fifth round was won by Davide Guarneri (Honda Redmoto) ahead of Gianluca Martini (Suzuki) and Rudy Moroni (KTM Farioli), On the difficult Piedmontese ground. the E2 class featured another memorable battle between Alex Salvini and Giacomo Redondi (Redmoto Honda), with the Bolognese on Beta managing to snatch the victory by two seconds despite a knock to his right leg on the first lap. After the epic duel between Thomas Oldrati (Husqvarna) and Deny Philippaerts (Beta Boano), the fifth round went to Thomas Oldrati, 46 seconds ahead of Philippaerts. Third place went to Oldrati's team-mate Maurizio Micheluz (Husqvarna).
There was a strong performance from the World class foreign riders like Eero Remes (TM Racing), Steve Holcombe (Beta) and of course Matthew Phillips (Sherco CH Racing) .
In the remaining two categories the Junior victory went to Matteo Cavallo and Andrea Verona for Youth,
Davide Soreca had a day to forget. He had a bad fall which hampered him throughout the day, and Manuel Monni was forced to retire on last special with a broken chain.
For the Cup IMF , climb to the top step of the podium Davide Pellizzaro for E1 and Luca Politaṇ for EO, while among teams triumph Motoclub Sebino with Martini, Guarneri, Redondo and Philippaerts, and Team Diligenti Racing Martini, Pellegrinelli , Macoritto and Micheluz.
They shine for the Italian Cup Gianluca Caroli (KTM - Cadets), Giorgio Viglino (KTM - Junior), Massimo Mutti (KTM - Senior), Matteo Ferrari (Husqvarna - Major) and Paola Riverditi (Husqvarna - Lady).
The test of the Italian Championship / Italy Maxxis Cup 2017 is also synonymous with T rofeo Cross Airoh tests and X-CUP Maxxis - Galfer. The extreme rider of the day was Matthew Phillips confirmed that the man to beat this season with regard to the X-Cup, while among the difficult passages of fettucciata test, the fastest was former cross rider Davide Guarneri.
There is a break for about two months in the Italian Championship / Cup Italy 2017 Maxxis before the series moves to Carseldine - AQ - the next 3 - 4 June for the penultimate stage in the programme!
