French Enduro Championship, round 5
Loïc Larrieu Crowned French Enduro Champion In Ambert
Following his participation at the British EnduroGP, Loïc Larrieu returned to the French Enduro Championship to be crowned the 2017 Enduro 2 Champion at the season finale. Claiming two more race victories in Ambert the Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team rider has completed a perfect season that saw him win on all ten race days of the 2017 French Enduro Championship.
With heavy rain making things even harder for racers and race organisation, the WR450F mounted rider showed dominant form in the muddy special tests of Ambert. Focused on keeping his winning streak alive, Loïc completed both races with a winning margin of more than 40 seconds each day.
Wrapping up the French Enduro Championship in the best possible way, Loïc will now take a well-deserved break before getting back to his training and preparation for the EnduroGP World Championship final. Following a month full of competitive action, the Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team rider will be focusing on rounding out the season with a good result in Germany.
Marc Bourgeois - Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team manager
"Finally Loïc can take a break now. He gave his all during these last couple of weeks. Not being able to show his full potential in the United Kingdom, he did manage to secure the French Enduro Championship title. This year he proved he was the fastest and more complete rider in the series and this title is the best reward for all his hard work and dedication. During the season Loïc also topped the outright standings in the majority of the races contested. We now have three weeks to go before heading to Germany for the EnduroGP final, so he will have time to recover and come back even stronger. With all the rain we had during the weekend in Ambert, Loïc also had the chance to race in the mud. It's quite probable that we will find similar conditions during the final at the end of the month. This is our third title with our partner Desjouis and I'm really excited we have such a fruitful collaboration."
Loïc Larrieu – Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team rider
"It was by no means an easy weekend but we managed to secure the title. The liaison sections were tough and the rain made them even harder. I managed to impose my own race pace since the start and without feeling in my best possible condition physically. We approached this event without too much pressure and it paid off. I am taking each race separately without letting any event distract my attention from my main goals. I am really happy to take one more title for the team. It was a long season and all my competitors were giving their best. I am now hoping for a good performance at the EnduroGP season finale. I will do my best to win in Germany! "
The Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team will be back in action in the final round of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship in Zschopau, Germany on October 20/22, where the duo of Loïc Larrieu and Jamie McCanney will give their best to wrap up the season on a high note. We would like to wish a speedy recovery to our friend Michel, who was involved in a road accident during the British EnduroGP. We also want to thank all of our partners with whom we would like to share Loïc's title.
