"Well, that was different!"

To celebrate their first year in the sport, Lincolnshire Enduro Club switched from the normal agenda of two races in one day, to one three hour "marathon". Not only that, they introduced a novel way to start the days proceedings, a le Mans start. (In my own class, the "old mens" group, the start probably looked like the Village of the Damned limping towards the light !!!) Taking place at Thoresway in the Lincolnshire Wolds, the last race of the season saw very bright and sunny conditions. It was however very slippery early on. Overnight temperatures that dropped to -4 saw riders tiptoeing through several areas. These places did improve somewhat as the sun (and the riders) woke up though. Utilising the mx track, and other tracts of land adjacent, the 3 mile course used a few off camber straights, jumps and a few big hills to climb. Heading straight into a low Autumn sun, these climbs were tackled more with "feel" and guesswork than eyesight (Just aim at the horizon folks !!)

Class winners on the day were as follows; Ladies; Tara Hollingworth - Experts: George Birchall - Clubmen: Samuel Jon-Chapman - Sportsman: Joshua Paige - Over 40's: Darren Bedford - Over 50's: Neil Tapper - Beginners: Bruce Whitemore-Wilson .

As this race was the ninth and final round in the clubs inaugural year, the overall championship winners can now be announced. They are as follows; Experts; George Birchall - Clubmen; Oliver Moses - Sportsman; Mark Lonsdale - Ladies: Tara Hollingworth - Over 40's: Gareth lodge - Over 50's: Neil Tapper - Trail and Classic; Steve Langley.

Club membership is now open for 2018, when the club hopes to promote a similar amount of races and practice sessions also. Membership details can found in the clubs Facebook page or on the ACU website.
