The final round of the 2017 Northern XC Championship

Baxtons farm Helmsley - 26th November

The final round of the PUTOLINE EUROTEK northern xc championship took place at Baxtons farm Helmsley 26th November . During the week prior to the event the north was battered with days of heavy rain with many northern areas suffering flooding , this would make some of the woodland parts a tad moist but the stubble was in prime condition for a great winter xc race.

The racing got underway at 9 am with the youth race 90 minutes in duration using the full adult course , Sam Hogg was on a mission in senior youth class first back to lap scoring , he pushed hard and won by a lap from second placed Tom Hume with Tommy Shevels in third.
Lottie Hume won the youth female class, in the juniors Sam Boyd was the winner from Harry Walker second and Thomas Bruce third , well done to all the youth riders that took part .

At 11am it was the turn of the adult riders , Ryan Ireland expert took an early lead as local favourite Spike Gilby crashed on the first corner , but after a couple of laps he was in front and started to build up a commanding lead normally riding the Acklams Beta 2st 300, but today he was on the unfamiliar beta 350 4st , but never the less Spike took the expert win from Cumbrian Ryan Ireland, in third place was Pickeringís most frugal citizen Darren Cousins.

In the o4Oa class Kyle Deswert was into an early lead and pushed on to win from Mark Raynor second . also in the o40a class was Alex Owen who was left stranded on the start line as his trusty Husqvarna failed to start he toiled for nearly an hour fixing it before joining the race in a bid to gain valuable o40a championship points and save third place in the championship.

Dave Barrettt won the o40b class, while Eurotek mounted Rhys Bradford Club e1 Ben Patterson club E2 and Benjamin Allison won their respective clubman classes .

In the o50 class Rob Swinbank was once again on fire taking victory over Dave knaggs. John Leith took the sportsman E1 victory while Joel Foster was the winner in sportsman E2 and Joshua Atkinson the sportsman E3 winner . Best novice was Josh Fenton .

This was another good season for the northern xc championship donít forget the presentation night Saturday 16th December product awards to the class winners from our long standing sponsors PUTOLINE MOTORCYCLE OILS and EUROTEK KTM. product awards must me claimed in person on the night .
