Round 3 - Saint Agrève
Loïc Larrieu claims a win & a runner-up result in Saint Agrève
Securing a runner-up result on day one and winning the second day of racing in Saint Agrève, Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team rider Loïc Larrieu continues to share the lead in the provisional French Enduro 2 Championship standings with fellow competitor Mathias Bellino.
Larrieu entered the third round of the French Enduro Championship looking to continue his strong run of form in the 2018 series. Fresh from his impressive victory at the 2018 Trèfle Lozérien AMV, Loïc jumped back on his WR450F machine for the weekend of racing in Saint Agrève.
Runner-up on day one, Loïc went on to claim his third victory for the season on the second and final day of racing in Saint Agrève. Sharing the exact same number of victories and second place results with Bellino, the two riders remain the leaders in the Enduro 2 provisional points standings.
With two rounds remaining in the 2018 French Enduro Championship, Larrieu will look to take advantage over his fellow competitor. In case the two riders wrap up the season with the exact same number of wins and runner-up results, the accumulative time from all the special tests contested will decide the 2018 champion.
After contesting the GP of Estonia, the Trèfle Lozérien and the third round of the French Enduro Championship, Loïc is looking forward to getting a well-deserved break before the GP of Trentino at the end of June.
"Overall, I’m satisfied with the results in Saint Agrève. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling 100% physically in Saint Agrève but that wasn’t such a big problem. On Saturday, I jumped back on my WR450F after contesting the Trèfle on the WR250F and I felt I needed more time to adapt to the big machine. At the end of the day I managed to take the provisional lead, but a crash in the last special test forced me to settle for second. I felt better on Sunday and managed to top eight out of the nine special tests contested. I also had some pain on my injured wrist and I hope I can take some time off these two weeks until the GP in Trentino to recover a bit. It’s going to be a different race with a cross test in the morning and an enduro test during the night. No matter how it will be, I will keep doing my best for the top spots.”
Marc Bourgeois - Team Manager
“Still recovering from my injury at the Trèfle I was forced to miss the race in Saint Agrève. Nevertheless, I was closely following the action and Loïc’s progress throughout the weekend via the internet and with frequent phone calls to our team members. Fabien Vinel took charge and made sure that everything worked well throughout the weekend. I know than Loïc could not show his full potential. He gave it all for the overall victory at the Trèfle. He suffered a few small mistakes on Saturday and that made him lose some time. This year they have a great battle in every race with Matthias and they keep pushing each other. I hope that Loïc will make full use of these two weeks before the GP of Trentino to get some well-deserved rest. In any case, I would like to congratulate Loïc and our whole team for giving their best during the weekend in Saint Agrève.”
The Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team duo of Loïc Larrieu and Jamie McCanney will return to action at the fifth round of the 2018 FIM Enduro World Championship in Pietramurata, Italy on June 29/30.
