Goodwood Festival of Speed Lampkin steals the show

Twelve times ex World champion Dougie Lampkin made a stunning debut at the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, with three days of amazing performances that captured the hearts of the one hundred and fifty thousand motorsport fans who attended this unique event.

Anticipation of Lampkin's appearance at this incredible and diverse festival was heightened following the global success of the pre-event video that showed Dougie riding through and on top of Goodwood House. Syndicated by over four hundred websites Worldwide and with over one hundred thousand views on YouTube alone Dougie's status on Lord March's entry list had already been justified.

Lampkin was given a free reign to roam the beautiful Goodwood estate near Chichester, East Sussex as he felt fit, with the brief that everything and anything could be ridden over.

Three packed days saw Dougie cover nearly every inch of the festival site, making impromptu performances on the many make do obstacles that he found scattered from the rally course at the top of the hill through to leafy surroundings of the lower Cathedral paddock that housed the first ever Grand Prix racing cars.

On every occasion Lampkin was surrounded by a huge crowd, the majority of which were witnessing his skills and exploits for the first time. Hence to say that the audience reaction was both warm and loud as he rounded each demonstration by using his cousin Ben as a human ground obstacle over which he performed several inch perfect tricks.

Ben was substituted on a few occasions by slightly more high profile candidates, which included a terrified Alex Barros of ex MotoGP fame, Mrs Fogarty - wife of Carl and none other than Lord March, who finally succumbed to Dougie's gentle Yorkshire persuasion during Sunday's prize presentation ceremony.

The highlights of the extended weekend included repeating his 'video performance' of riding through the house and up on to the top of the roof much to the delight and disbelief of the huge and mainly car orientated live crowd. Even the array of F1 drivers past and present, World rally drivers, stars of WSB, BSB and MotoGP who were present were blown away with the sheer scale and bravery of this feat alone.

Lampkin was to gain further respect and recognition as he was singled out by Lord March as the only rider / driver to be part of Saturday night's stage show that formed part of the famous Goodwood private ball and included a spectacular finale of fire and fireworks.

Dougie shared the main stage with a fifteen strong professional female dance squad, plus drumming icons from The Who, Pink Floyd and Queen to entertain the twelve hundred personally invited guests.

The twenty five minute long show saw Lampkin make his entrance by jumping through a ring of fire, before finishing his carefully choreographed routine by wheeling through a five metre high curtain of water, all whilst wearing his dinner suit.

Lampkin topped off an extraordinary three days of riding by appearing at the Cartier Champagne reception on Sunday afternoon, before being awarded a trophy for being the best rider / driver of the day, on the only day when F1 star Lewis Hamilton attended the show.

A slightly exhausted Lampkin stated. "This weekend ranks as one of my career highlights. It has been both an honour and pleasure to have been a part of this great event.
