Holcombe Successfully Completes EnduroGP Of Spain

Beta Factory Racing’s Steve Holcombe has claimed second and sixth place EnduroGP class results at the GP of Spain, the
third round of the 2019 FIM Enduro World Championship, and now sits as runner-up in the EnduroGP series standings.
Following hot on the heels of the GP of Portugal where he finished first and second over the two days of competition to
maintain his then EnduroGP World Championship lead, the GP of Spain proved to be a tough one for Holcombe. Picking up
a virus following the opening round of the series in Germany, Steve was unable to compete at 100% yet nevertheless gave
his all to secure important championship points.

Fourth fastest at the end of the Friday night Super Test, Steve made a strong start to the first full day of competition.
Wining three of the day’s special tests, including the 11th and final test, he eventually placed as EnduroGP class runner-up
behind countryman Brad Freeman while topping the Enduro 3 class.

Day two was hugely frustrating for Holcombe, who salvaged a sixth-place EnduroGP result and second in Enduro3. Unable
to attack the special tests as he would normally, he pushed as hard as he could throughout the day.

The 2019 FIM Enduro World Championship continues with round four in Serres, Greece on June 14-16.

Steve Holcombe: “It might sound strange for me to say I’m pleased with finishing second and sixth here in Spain, but I
truly am. It’s been one of the hardest GPs for me for a long time, especially today, day two. I knew coming into the
race that things would be tough, but I also knew I just needed to do the best I could. In Portugal last weekend I wasn’t
able to ride like I can, and with only a few days to recover before this GP I knew I wouldn’t be anywhere near my best.
I was feeling unusually tired about a month ago and have been having some tests since then to figure out what’s up.
Like I said, second on day one was good all things considered. But today I was spent. I had to change the way I rode to
save as much energy as possible, which was tough to do mentally. I have some time now to try and get things sorted
out and rest before heading to Greece for the next round.”
