nations and teams
The final of the European Enduro Championship (EEC) is not just a 3-day
trip. It's not even just a 3-day trip with a final race.
It is a competition of teams and nations too: So in this year's finals in Krompachy. After the Italians were so successful in the individual disciplines, it is no wonder that they have performed as well in the team events :
In the juniors, they won the team title, as with the club teams too. RESULTS
Today a great show in Krompachy in Slovakia for the European Championship
enduro in the first of three days of competition at the last round of the
continental Championship. Perfect conditions for all the riders in forrest and
tracks with warm, but not to hot temperatures in the challenging tests. European-Enduro-Championship - 1st day in Ogre / Latvia Hot Stuff The start to the second half of the European Enduro Championship in Ogre / Latvia became a hot one: Thermometers in the paddock registered over 30 degrees and the heat was an additional difficulty for the riders. The course once again distributed the difficulties evenly. The tests were less sandy and muddy than the week before but the enduro test in the quarry was quite a lot more stony for the benefit of the southern Europeans. The overall winner was Estonian Aigar Leok on the TM in front of Finland's Roni Nikander on the KTM. Italian Gianluca Martini was 3rd and won the Juniors-E2-/E3-Class with his Beta. The E1-Class went to Roni Nikander in front of Luis Oliveira from Portugal on the Yamaha. With this result the Finn is building up his lead in the championship. The Junior E1-Class was won by Swede Martin Larsson, who was second overall in front of the Italian Tomasso Montanari, while the former second, Jacobo Cerutti DNF'd. MP Racings Jack Rowland's started well - setting times comparable with the leaders - but a crash on the penultimate test lost him 20 seconds and he dropped down to 7th. At the Juniors with the big bikes in the E2/E3-class, won the Italien Gianluca Martini on Beta in front of Martin Leok, brother of the overall winner Aigar. Yamaha in front of the current champion Heike Petrick from Germany on her KTM.

Seven victories in nine classes won by Italian riders at the end of the first day of the opening round of the Enduro European Championship, on May 26th and 27th to Arsiè, in Northern Italy. The town of Arsiè is not far from Belluno, in a plain surrounded by mountains in the north of Lake Corlo, an artificial lake created in 1954 blocking the Cismon river along the slopes of Monte Grappa for the production of electrical energy,. The E2 Senior saw the domination of Diego Nicoletti (Beta 450 4T). Second place for the Belgian Cedric Cremer (KTM 350 4T) and third English Jamie Lewis (Husqvarna TE 310). Three Italians in the first four positions of E3 Senior. In this class had the best Mirko Gritti (KTM 300 2T), the oldest son of the “legendary” Alessandro Gritti, European and Italian Enduro Champion in the seventy and eighty. Mirko Gritti conquered the overall victory too. Behind him there is Maurizio Micheluz (HM-Honda 500 4T), the reigning European Champion. Third place for Dutch Amel Advokaat (KTM 500 4T), while Maurizio Facchin (Husqvarna TE 310) finished fourth. Four Italian riders in the top five of E1 Junior. The victory went to Davide Roggeri (250 4T Suzuki) in front of Jacopo Cerutti (TM 250 4T). In Junior "Under 20" class won Guido Conforti (Yamaha 125 2 stroke). Behind the Tuscan rider the Swedish Olivier Nelson (KTM 125 2T) and the Italian Riccardo Crippa (Yamaha 125 2 stroke). All “Made in Italy” the 50cc 2T class with ten riders at the arrival. At the end Jordi Gardiol (Valenti) had the best. Tomorrow the second day of race, on the same track, with six special tests. The weather and the scenery change and the the rain comes too, but in the second final day of the opening round of the European Championship in Arsiè (BL), the Italian riders go on to give great emotions. After the victories of Saturday, today the Italian riders won six more victories. In E3 Senior Mirko Gritti (KTM 300 2T) repeated his first place of yesterday both in his class and in the overall classification. Behind Gritti, the overall classification saw the Polish Michal Szuster (TM 250 4T) and the Italians Maurizio Micheluz (HM-Honda 500 4T) and Gianluca Martini (Beta 500 4T). These are the other Italian winners of today; in E1 Junior Jacopo Cerutti (TM 250 4T), in E2/3 Junior Martini (Beta 500 4T), in Junior "Under 20" 125 2T Guido Conforti (Yamaha) and in 50cc the fourteen years old Jordi Gardiol (Valenti). The race started at 9.00 am, always in the main square of Arsiè, with the first two rounds played under a cloudy sky, while the third round and the final two special tests saw the riders race under a heavy rain that made really insidious the ground with mud. The overall victory of Gritti was really exciting because the rider from Bergamo with Motorace Team managed at the end to have the best on Szuster, while Micheluz finished third in less than three seconds. But Szuster would surely have won the overall classification without a fall in the last special test. Szuster took confort winning the E1 Senior class, in front of the Italian Alessio Paoli (4T Suzuki 250) and the Finnish Roni Nikander (KTM 250 4T), who at the end managed to have the best on the Portuguese Luis Miguel Oliveira (Yamaha 2T 125). Second on Saturday, today Cremer (KTM 350 4T) won the E2 Senior in front of the English Jamie Lewis (Husqvarna TE 310) and the Italian Diego Nicoletti (Beta 450 4T). The Veteran class saw the same standings of Saturday, with Muller (KTM 500 4T) first in front of the Czech Zdenek Gottvald (TM 300 2T) and the German Patrick Hess (BMW 450 4T). Behind Petrick (KTM 350 4T), the Woman Class saw the Slovakian Zuzana Gaherova (Yamaha 250 4T) finish second and the Finnish Marita Nyqvist (Yamaha 125 2 stroke) third. The winner of E1 Junior was Cerutti, while the Italian Davide Roggeri (Suzuki 250 4T) lost the second place during the last special for a fall in the mud and finally he finished fifth. The 50cc saw all the Italian riders at the arrival.
