"WOR Events made their annual pilgrimage over the mountains to the awesome Penybontfawr venue on the Powys borders last weekend and served up another cracking weekend of Cross Country motorcycle racing. With this venue WOR have one of the best off road circuits in the UK, with a huge mountainside to go at the course offered everything including a superb grass special test area adjacent to the pits and paddock area that made for great viewing as the riders battled the now customary (for UK!) wet conditions. The weather plays such an important part in the smooth running of any off road event and can certainly make or break an event. Luckily the superbly planned courses that the WOR track building team had in store for the weekend's racing managed to hold out and give the riders a brilliant time on their bikes. Knight returns to winning ways at US GNCC Rnd 9 Collecting his fifth win of the ’08 US Grand National Cross Country Series to extend is lead in the Overall series standings to 38 points Red Bull KTM Off Road Race Team rider David Knight put his disappointing recent run of results behind him to dominate The Mountain Ridge GNCC. The last of the opening nine GNCC races before the two-month summer break, Knighter showed his rivals exactly why he sits at the top of the championship standings by claiming a controlled and deserved race win. From a mid-pack start Knighter quickly made his way into third before leading by the end of the first lap – a position he would hold right up until the end of the race. Full report A week after setting some of the fastest test times in the Welsh, Dylan Jones again justified his inclusion in this year's ISDE team with a win in the Powys. The overnight weather at the start in Carno was atrocious and heavy showers during the day made this one of the wettest Powys Enduros for a long time. Amazingly, on the whole, the sun came out while everyone was on each of the two tests. The rushy parts of the final test were more like a swamp than a special test, but most managed to get around it. Andrew Edwards was the runner up & Ashley Wood was third. David Lloyd-Jones was the best clubman ahead Lewis Bagnall. Ian Jones won the Over 40s from David Lewis & in the Over 50s Nigel Pugh took the win ahead of Jeff Webster. In the sidecars Andrews & Edgvean won the Premier from Jones & Brown. The Powys with it's huge single lap is often described as a one day Welsh & they certainly matched each other for wetness this year. Congratulations to everyone who finished & everyone who kept them going. Results Solo Team Photos

After ten laps of the latest Hewitt National Cross-Country championship round at Midford, near Bath on Sunday, Expert rider Darren Wheeler (left) appeared all set to record another victory. Leading the contest, Wheeler was forced to eventually retire from proceedings after losing his Husaberg oil breather pipe. Despite his frustration, the Midwest supported rider did gain some consolation though by taking home a trophy donated in memory of Nick Phillips who just a year earlier had been tragically killed in a farming accident. The trophy was awarded to the rider posting the fastest lap of the day, with Wheeler recording a time of 8 minutes 44 seconds on his sixth circuit. Full Report

The venue for the fourth round of the Putoline XC Championship, at Saints Well near Llandrindod Wells last weekend, was well organised once again by fasteddyracing.com over both days. he Saints Well course is generally one of the most popular in the Putoline XC series but there is no denying that the credit crunch is taking its toll as numbers were unexpectedly down on previous years and other meetings this year. Following on from the Welsh 2 day event, this meeting usually attracts a few dozen riders but this didn't happen this year. The rain that had plagued the Welsh didn't show up on Saturday and although the course was a little damp in places it was very rideable. Full Report
