RideoffroadUK 2014
A Trio of Quality Enduro Events with some Big Changes.
Eyes on the Future
With 2013 almost at a close, and with many riders already looking forward to
a fresh new season of racing, RideoffroadUK’s Wayne and Sonya Braybrook
have a trio of enduro events planned for the 2014 season. At the very
beginning when ROR was formed in 2008 the ethos and work ethic was simple,
to provide high quality off road motorcycle events to the general public on
a professional level. Yes in any business or organisation along the way
there may be mistakes made or decisions taken that simply don’t suit
everyone, however on the whole living in a world of uncertain and volatile
times we simply want to see good people enjoying the sport we all love.
Enduro
Practice Days (BED Days)
Introduced in to the 2013 season from ROR were BED days, (Braybrook Enduro
Days) these events were to give riders a full day of off road action on a
leisure way of thinking, a purpose designed enduro course for riders to
enjoy unlimited track time from 10am to 3pm. Some riders use it as practice
or training session, with the majority of participants turning up to ride
with friends in a safe, well organised environment at a fully permitted and
marshalled track. This has offered a unique insight for many new riders into
the enduro scene, ROR team riders are always on hand offering help and handy
riding tips, as well as bike set up advice and a shop full of general spares
to keep riders going throughout the day. BED days are stand alone events
which run on Sundays when the club are not running races.
Main Hare & Hounds Championship – New Look
ROR’s main Hare & Hounds Championship runs over 9 rounds in 2014, the
club offers a seamless 3 race format at all events to cater for all riders’
individual abilities. First up on a Sunday morning are Youth riders,
catering for 65cc to 125/250f, Youth riders always get a full track
experience using the same course as the Adult hobby race. Once the Youth
riders have completed their 90 minute race the first of two Adult races will
be ready to start. Wayne and Sonya have always focussed on the Hobby rider
classes. Now to call it hobby may offend some people, although the level of
competition and commitment from the morning Adult race is always high, the
word hobby simply splits the riders who are not going to risk life and limb
to win, from those who in the afternoon race are far more experienced and
capable, as well as willing to push the boundaries. So the AM Adult race
starts at 10.30am and runs for 2 hours, this has classes for Beginners,
Sportsman, Sportsman Vets, Over 50 and Ladies. Riders in these classes are
always well catered for as this is the backbone of any event in terms of
bums on seats. After lunch it’s the turn of the faster Expert, Clubman and
Over40 riders who run for 2.5 hours. New for 2014 at the request of many
faster riders is extra hard routes which will be included ONLY to the
afternoon race, this will up the level of intensity and offer riders with
trials backgrounds a chance to steal time back on faster MX based riders.
Hard routes won’t have options around them, they will form part of a
challenge to bring back some old school enduro lovers to Hare & Hounds
competition.
Putoline
4 Hour Series Events
Since its inception two years ago the Putoline 4 Hour Series has seen steady
growth. With classes for Solo 4 hour riders, and two man teams, it’s fair
to say that the two man team classes are the most popular. Teams have two
riders on the same number; one in a change-over area located next to the
pits, the other out on track clocking up the laps. When riders get tired or
damage their bike they come into to the change over area and “tag” their
team mate, releasing them onto the track. This gives riders a chance to rest
and socialise in between racing action. Solo 4 hour riders are the brave
ones, simply racing for 4 hours solo. All venues used for the 4 hour series
are carefully chosen, offering hard standing paddocks and all weather
courses to deal with the extra on track traffic even if it’s a wet day. A
Youth 2 hour solo event is also included at each Putoline supported event.
Having had an up and down 2013 season, most riders are always looking for
value for money and above all enjoyment from off road biking. With lots of
clubs doing similar things riders have choices of where and when to ride.
ROR offers three products to suit pretty much every enduro off road petrol
head, and above all we never lose sight of what is our day of work is our
customer’s day of enjoyment. ROR have already had an influx of club
membership applications for 2014, in fact it is looking as though 2014 will
be a busy year for the RideoffroadUK events organisation.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all Enduronews
fans from RideoffroadUK.
