DAKAR 2014
Greetings from Dot and Jim Jones.

Our son Mike and his wife Sue, better known as Beady and Milly, have just driven their Desert Warrior from Rosario in Argentina to Valparaiso in Chile to finish the Dakar. It has been a very challenging rally with long special stages through difficult terrain going from sea level up to 3500 metres in the magnificent Andes and back down the huge dunes in the Atacama Desert to the Pacific Ocean.With lots of waypoints to pass there was come tricky navigation needed and Milly did a fantastic job of finding the correct way while Beady tackled the sand dunes with his usual gusto. A huge thanks goes out to all the members of the RallyRaidUK assistance team who worked hard to keep the car in a road worthy state every night and next day sent Beady out to wreck it again.

After many years of helping other competitors to get to the finish on the Dakar and other rallies around the world it was their turn at last.

They have achieved their dream of standing on the Dakar finishing podium together. We look forward to welcoming them home to hear all about their epic drive, no doubt they will have some stories to tell. All the finishers of this classic edition of the great Dakar adventure deserve our respect and admiration.
