Beta Atacama and Luca Viglio finish the Dakar Rally

The Dakar 2014 began last January, 5th from Rosario in Argentina and ended on Saturday January, 18th at Valparaiso in Chile.

Over 9000 km race through Argentina , Bolivia and Chile. Edition that will go down in history for its hardness and the resulting number of withdrawals . An average of 12/15 hours of riding per day divided into transfers and special tests. Slightly less than 50 % of the 180 starters finished the race .

This year Rally Team Beta Boano was at start with 2 of his Beta Atacama at the debut in the latest version . To choose this bike to bring into the race were amateurs riders Giulio Napoli and Luca Viglio with the main objective of completing what is known as the hardest race in the world.

Giulio Napoli was forced to retire on the third day when at more than 4300 meters high has gone into oxygen debt on a challenging course on the edge of riding . It was a few miles to the end of the stage , but despite the efforts and the will to succeed Giulio at one point was forced to call the medical care that he has not felt able to continue . It took three days to get back to normal !

Forced to retire Giulio, the hopes of the team were placed in Luca Viglio that shortly before his departure he said: "I want to finish this Dakar, Italian motorcycle and Italian rider would be a success ! "

Luca has kept its promise and despite various vicissitudes has not lost his nerve facing difficult trials both physically and mentally, and mile after mile led on its Beta Atacama to the finish of Valparaiso.

Jarno Boano: "Luca and the Beta Atacama have done a great job! Complete one that has been considered by all as the hardest edition of the Dakar race in South America is already a success. Luca is not a professional rider and our bike was making his debut! I think this goal is also an added value for the Beta that has confirmed to be a great bike even in the toughest conditions. Now we have to work for 2015 where the goal becomes to be protagonists! "
