The Latin American madness!
Four days after the third and the fourth rounds that took places in
Mineirinho in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) and in Arena VFG in Guadalajara
(Mexico) of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, let’s make a
quick come back on two races full of emotions… and surprises!
Super Pole powered by Akrapovic
Once again, the Super Pole powered by Akrapovic had a great success! But
this time, the success has been magnifying by the warm of the Latin American
public. In Brazil, for the third consecutive time, Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL –
KTM) won the 3 points bonus ahead of David KNIGHT (GB – Sherco) and Jonny
WALKER (GB – KTM). A week later, in the Arena VFG in Guadalajara, WALKER
stopped the invincibility of the four time World Champion by winning the
Super Pole over Mathias BELLINO (F – HVA) and David KNIGHT… In the
standings, BLAZUSIAK remains as the big favorite to win the 1 500€ offered
by Akrapovic with 9 points while WALKER is 2nd with 5 points and KNIGHTER
and BELLINO are tied in 3rd position with 4 points… Cody WEBB (USA –
Beta), present in Liverpool, is the last to have points with 2. Without any
doubt, the Super Pole, powered by Akrapovic, will keep in suspense the
spectators and riders till the end of the Championship where “Taddy”
will have to play tighten to win the money offered by the famous Slovenian
exhaust brand…
Adventures
Benoit FORTUNATO (above F – Yam) trip on this other side of the Atlantic
Ocean was not easy! Indeed, when he arrived, the young guy from Marseille
learnt that his baggage, where he brought numerous pieces for his bike, was
lost in an airport in the US. The next day, when he arrived in the venue, he
saw that his Yamaha lend by the local had Freestyle set-up. Without his
pieces, the French has to ride with this bike and signed a Top 10. Arrived
in Mexico, he learnt then that his baggage was purely unfindable! But this
time, the bike had much better set-up and “FORTU” signed the 5th best
time that permitted him to try his luck in the Super Pole. Then, he clinched
also a nice 5th place during the Heat 3. That is his best result of the
season.
GIBERT with Gas Gas
Only few days before the start of this tour, we learnt that Dani GIBERT (E),
third in the overall standing, signed with Gas Gas. Arrived in Brazil with a
big knee injury, the Spanish has gritted one’s teeth during these two
Grand Prix and scored an encouraging 6th place in Mineirinho and a 9th rank
in the Arena VFG. Despite his injury, GIBERT seemed comfortable with his Gas
Gas and should be back on the first places when he will be recovered from
his sore knee. Moreover, in Barcelona (February, 9th), the actual 5th in the
standing will be supported by two new recruits of the Gas Gas team: Melcior
FAJA (E) and Dani OLIVERAS (E) and will really look to shine in front of his
public…
Great logistics
The worries have been quickly swept… The logistic for this South American
tour has been great thanks to the perfect work and the great quality of the
SEL with the support of VENTANA and ARCESE groups that have perfectly
accompanied on the field the material shipment. The KTM, Husqvarna and
Sherco official teams as ABC Com staff really appreciated the quality of the
service and the perfect respected timing.
The Brazilian heat
The Grand Prix of Brazil was a special event… Indeed, never before, the
SuperEnduro met a so warm and exuberant public. The Brazilians has never
hesitated to catch the rider shoulder to get an autograph or a photo. The 10
000 spectators has made of the Mineirinho a true sounding that has
sublimated the performances of the SEWC stars! They finished invading the
track at the end of the last final to communicate with BLAZUSIAK, KNIGHT,
WALKER and GOMEZ. Proof of the madness that caught the spectators, some of
them stole a log of the Firewood section and made it signed by the riders…
Decidedly, this furia gave to the protagonists (riders, FIM, ABC
Communication and Quanta Sports) the idea to repeat the event next season as
the welcome of the local public was amazing!
Perfect tour
By realizing the Grand Slam, Giacomo REDONDI (I – Beta) did a perfect tour
and mainly made a perfect operation in the Junior standing. Indeed, the
Junior class is subjected to the X-4 (the four worst results will be
dropped) and by choosing to finesse this Brazil/Mexico tour, Jamie MCCANNEY
(GB – HVA), Magnus THOR (S – HVA), Andreas LINUSSON (S – KTM) and
Pawel SZYMKOWSKI (PL – KTM) played already their joker while the Italian
is in a strong position… With his two jokers and a 75 points lead over
MCCANNEY, the Beta rider has just put a big pressure on the other riders of
the Junior class who have now no places to any mistakes if they don’t want
to see “RED” titled in the Grand Prix of Spain…
Autograph session
We never so autograph sessions during so many time as in Brazil and Mexico.
Indeed, the organizers found the good way by organizing this session in the
assistance zone where the riders was. The spectators have the opportunity to
catch the “pits” atmosphere and it permitted to the riders to be more
relaxed… While the session nearly delayed the program in Belo Horizonte,
the one of Guadalajara last more than 45 minutes! Never saw before for a
great sharing and friendliness moment.
Miss SuperEnduro
Among the numerous attractions prepared by Sebastião LAGO (Quanta Sports)
during the Brazilian event, one of them has truly delighted the Mineirinho
public: the Miss SuperEnduro election! Twelve nice girls were presents for
this beauty contest and at the end, the jury leaded by Alain BLANCHARD and
Eric PERONNARD has elected the magnificent Luana NUNES, Miss SuperEnduro
Brazil… Samba Samba!
Thanks
Alain BLANCHARD (ABC Communication) and Christian DEJASSE for the FIM have
sincerely thanks Quanta Sports and the Grupo Ochoa for their excellent
organization during those two Grand Prix… “The Europeans have a lot two
learn from those organizations. These organizers are really thirsty of new
things and are looking to realize the perfect event by putting all their
energy and freshness. Really, those two rounds are excellent examples for
the Europeans” said Alain BLANCHARD at the end of the last Grand Prix. No
doubt, Sebastião LAGO (Quanta Sports) and Alejandro OCHOA (Grupo Ochoa)
have totally conquered the SuperEnduro caravan, riders and teams!
Without
complex
Brand new in the SuperEnduro, Mathias BELLINO (F – HVA) has made beautiful
races in Poland, signing the 4th rank of the Grand Prix and realizing a huge
overtake on the local idol Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL – KTM)… In Latin America,
the red-haired has made talk about him once again. First by fighting with
the best during the two Super Poles of Brazil and Mexico and mainly by
making an impressive Final 3 in the Arena VFG in Guadalajara. In Poland,
BLAZUSIAK seemed tired and many have minimized the “feat” of the HVA
rider, but now, no subject to contestation. BELLINO afford to himself to
overtake twice David KNIGHT (with a huge Block Pass) before to literally “eat”
Taddy BLAZUSIAK with a new overtake to teach in every motorbike school. With
this feat, the 2012 EWC Junior World Champion has put the Mexican public in
his pocket and had also signed his first heat win for his first season! A
client that should be serious in the next years…
