A crazy final !

Four days after the sixth and last round of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship that took place in the Parc des Expositions in Tours (France), let’s have a quick look to this final race full of emotions… and surprises!

Show
A real American show has been organized by Tours Evenements during the evening. Indeed, a cheerleaders group from Slovakia has given some rhythm during the night and gave different presents from Freegun and Ducati to the thousands of spectators. With that, Denis SCHWOK and his team has provided a DJ (DJ BB) well-known in the French nightlife and an outstanding laser show… No doubt the organizers of this final in Tours have made the things big…

Twin towers
Great Britain has been one of the most represented nations this season in the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship. And further the big names that are KNIGHT, WALKER and also MCCANNEY, the HUMPHREYS brothers made a good impression during the Grand Prix AMV of France. Indeed, Owain and Gethin, the both on Sherco, put rhythm in the two Junior heats. First of all, Gethin, who has participated to Liverpool and Barcelona, fought during a long time with BORJESSON in the first heat before crashing and finishing 3rd. Then, the two brothers fought hard together all along the second heat before having some trouble two laps before the finish line, Owain grabbing the 3rd rank and Gethin the 8th spot. In the Grand Prix standing, Owain HUMPHREYS occupy the 5th place with only one point over his brother Gethin (6th) who finishes 7th in the overall standing… The future of the British SuperEnduro seems bright with these sympathetic twins…

VIP
Cheerleaders, laser show, DJ, all of that were only a small part of the organization made by Tours Evenements. Indeed, they also made a track and pit visit to some VIP. Those persons, all fans of Enduro and in love with this new discipline, had the opportunity to discover the track thanks to the advices of the track designer Eric PERONNARD while Bastien BLANCHARD (ABC Com) has welcomed them in the pits, presenting each rider and their bikes. The VIP could also benefit of a nice moment with Taddy BLAZUSIAK, Giacomo REDONDI (I – Beta), Sandra GOMEZ (E – Husaberg) and Jonny WALKER (GB – KTM) and were filled with wonder during more than an hour…

French… not Connection!
Only French rider in the Prestige class after this collarbone injury of Benoit FORTUNATO (F – Yamaha) two days before the stage, Mathias BELLINO (F – HVA) has honored the bleu-white-red colors… After leading for a long time in the Heat 1, he finished 2nd behind the machine BLAZUSIAK, then he scored a seventh place in the second final and a third spot in the Heat 3. Those results have permitted to Mathias BELLINO to clinch his first podium in SuperEnduro. But the question we are asking to everybody is: where were the others Frenchies who are dominating the EWC? Aren’t they a bit scared of being beaten by Taddy, KNIGHT, GOMEZ or also WALKER? For sure nothing comparable with what is done in Spain and United Kingdom where local stars (CERVANTES, MENA…) don’t hesitate to race their national race only for respect to the public, the Medias and the sponsors.

Injured list
Further Benoit FORTUNATO (collarbone), numerous SEWC riders has to join the injured list before the final. Indeed, Kevin ROOKSTOOL (USA – KTM) suffered from an infection while Tim APOLLE (D – HVA) was sick. On her side, Geraldine FOURNEL (F – Sherco) had to undergo a surgery and will not be able to ride until beginning of March. On Kyle REDMOND (USA – KTM) side, the story is different. The American is now negotiating a contract for the next season and it was his priority in compare with the Grand Prix while Louise FORSLEY (USA – KTM) had to stop his racing career to find a new professional orientation.

Thanks
Alain BLANCHARD (ABC Communication) and Jean Guillaume MEILLER for the FIM have thanked and paid tribute to the excellent work made by the Amical Moto Montlouisienne (AMM) and Tours Evenements during this Grand Prix AMV of France… On the occasion, the organizer has raised a possible city and arena changing next year… and Montpellier will be ahead in this short list! While Germany should make its apparition in the schedule.

Freegun
Partner of this Grand Prix AMV of France, Freegun made the things big during the evening. The underwear brand, which has sponsored the very spectacular “Firewood” section, has putted on each seat of the tribune thousands of clap claps and has also organized a present distribution during the second break of the night. The firm from Valence brings also his famous pick-up and an arch… A sponsor that know how to make the things big to beautify the event!

Spanish succession
The number of Spanish riders in the SEWC is correct, indeed, only Alfredo GOMEZ (E – HVA) and Dani GIBERT (E – Gas Gas) have participated to the entire season while Ivan CERVANTES (E – KTM) made three Grand Prix on six possible and that we had not Juniors all along the season except in Barcelona. The only Spanish who went out of his frontier is Eloi SALSENCH (E – KTM). After making a good impression in Barcelona (4/8); he has once again shone in Tours. Indeed, the Junior rider clinched the 8th place in the first final and then was not so far from stealing the win to Pawel SZYMKOWSKI (PL – KTM) in Heat 2. For his debuts in SuperEnduro, SALSENCH finished 4th of the Grand Prix AMV of France and grabbed an 8th place in the overall standing. Hope it will give him some ideas for next year…

Portuguese pride
For a first Grand Prix in SuperEnduro, Joaquim RODRIGUES (P – KTM) did well… Very first Portuguese to try SuperEnduro, “J-ROD” has shone in the second final, leading the race during 2 laps before crashing and let the leadership to BLAZUSIAK. After an encouraging final (11/12/13), the Portuguese star seemed conquered by the discipline and it will not be a surprise to see him again next season after a specific training.
