Junior Class

Swedish and British power !

After a full season with six Grand Prix from November until end of February and a rider set never seen before in the discipline, it’s time for us to take a look to this 2013/2014 edition of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, class by class. After the Prestige class on Tuesday, let’s go for the Junior class…

They surprised

Andreas LINUSSON (S – KTM): Brand new this season, the ex-trial rider has created the surprise at the first race in Liverpool, winning the first heat of a super technical British track! After having some difficulties in Poland, the only Swedish rider on a KTM has dominated all his rivals in Barcelona and gets the Vice-Champion place in the Parc des Expositions in Tours… No doubt, a serious candidate for the title next season… while he is only 19 years old!

Jamie MCCANNEY (GB – HVA): He was also brand new in the SuperEnduro this season, and has been the first leader of the Championship, keeping the lead until Brazil where he couldn’t compete. Despite a big injury during the Free Practice in Tours, the young MCCANNEY brother has realized a very nice season and is also a true and really serious candidate for the title!

Jesper BORJESSON (S – HVA): 4th of the FIM Youth Cup 125cc in 2013, Jesper had already tried the SuperEnduro last season. He has participated to three Grand Prix with good results; a heat win and a Grand Prix victory during the Final in Tours. With only 19 years old, the HVA rider has a nice potential and can become a true title contender in few seasons…

Gethin & Owain HUMPHREYS (GB – Sherco): Hard to talk only about one of the two brothers… Gethin has participated to three GP and has made a tough impression in Spain and France while Owain has joined him in France. At the end, Gethin finished 7th in the overall and Owain 12th and shown nice future prospect!

Eloi SALSENCH (E – KTM): Usual face of the EWC, the young Spanish seems to have found a discipline that fits nicely to him! Very comfortable in Barcelona (4/8), he did it again in Tours and could have won a heat with more luck (8/2). With a special preparation, SALSENCH can make some noise next season in the SEWC…

Gary DANIELS (GB – Sherco): Less spectacular than his compatriots Owain and Gethin HUMPHREYS, Jane DANIELS brother, has been really regular during the round he participated to, 8 and 9 in the Echo Arena in Liverpool and 4 and 8 in Tours. He finished 9th in the overall and must think to enter the entire Championship for the next season…

In place…

Giacomo REDONDI (I – Beta): We made of the Italian one of the most serious title contender this season, and we didn’t make a mistake. After a 3rd place in 2013, “RED” was in mission and did not fail. Only European rider to participate to the Latin American Tour, the new Beta rider has benefit of this to create the gap with his rivals in order to secure the title… Now, he will have to fight with the stars of the Prestige class!

Magnus THOR (S – HVA): In difficulties at the start of the season, the Swedish was back on track during the two last Grand Prix, and that permitted him to finish on the last step of the podium in the overall. With 21 years old, he is surely a serious favorite for the 2015 title of World Champion!

Tim APOLLE (D – HVA): Very endearing rider of the paddock, the young German is learning the discipline! After few apparitions in 2012/2013, he has realized some encouraging results all along the season but couldn’t participate to the last GP (sick), which would have permitted him to clinch a Top 10. But he finished 14th and seems to improve in each heat… with only 18 years old!

He has disappointed

Pawel SZYMKOWSKI (PL – KTM): Runner-up of Danny MCCANNEY (GB – Beta) last year, we were expected more from the young Polish than what he has produced… Never able to fight for the Top 3, the KTM rider seemed to have some difficulties in each Grand Prix except in France where he “save the honor” with a victory in the last heat. 5th in the final standing, SZYMKOWSKI, who was in his last Junior year, will have to fight with the riders of the Prestige class next season…

He will maybe see them again

Rob JOHNSON (GB – HVA): The young Brit seems to really like this discipline and could become a true Top 5 contender with a specific training and more racing… No doubt, he has to continue his adventure in the SuperEnduro…

Romain LELOUP (F – KTM): Only French to have made the entire season, he has succeeded: to come to race with the World’s best… Sympathetic face of the paddock, we would love to see the KTM rider again in SuperEnduro, we believe that he can target a Top 10 with a good preparation…

Adam TOMICZEK (PL – KTM): The 2013 Polish Junior Champion has participated only to his home Grand Prix in Lodz, scoring a 6th and a 10th rank. But, with only 20 years old, TOMICZEK has a really interesting and promising potential…
