Welsh 2 day Update
26th & 27th June 2014

Preparations are well under way for this year's Welsh 2 Day. The committee are working hard to maintain all of the things that make this event so popular, while at the same time, looking to keep making small changes to make it even better. ET James remain as the event sponsors, while Steve Plain and Michelin support the special tests.

After a couple of successful years, work commitments have forced Rowan Jones to step down as Clerk of the Course. His guiding hand is still there as he eases new Clerk, Huw Watkins into the role. Huw is very happy to take charge of an event he has ridden for many years, including on a C90!

The work on the route is well in hand, engaging with Natural Resources Wales (formerly the Forestry Commission), the local authorities and the MSA (who authorise the road mileage) to ensure that all considerations for others take place.

This year, the Welsh 2 Day Committee are delighted to announce that the event is a round of the Twin Shock Championship. The older bikes are very popular with spectators, many of the bikes being older than some of the current riders of modern machinery!

The three special tests (ridden twice each time for Championship class) proved very interesting. This will continue, with Church Farm, Pontrhydfendigaid continuing, and the Cwmythig test being replaced by Abbeycwmhir. This last test is very popular with spectators who can see all the action from the lower end of the field.

The committee would like to see riders who have done well in Sportsman and Clubman class in recent years move up to the next class, giving others a chance at the very popular Rhayader Crystal trophies.

With 1 week to go before online entries open, riders and team managers are reminded that the entries fill up very quickly.

Entries open on 1st April 2014 at 7pm www.fabian4.co.uk

Keeping everyone up to date on the plans and progress for the event (and sharing results and news when the event is on) the organisers have created a new web page, and have also embraced the social media by launching a Facebook page and a twitter account which is @welsh2dayenduro so feel free to keep in touch and share your experiences and pictures of previous events on Facebook
