The final of the 2014 Enduro European Championship

On 6/7th September the Enduroclub Uhlírské Janovice v ACR hosted the final of the 2014 Enduro European Championship 50 km south of Prague.

The ACU British Team consisted of Tom Sagar, Jamie Lewis, Jack Rowland and Steve Holcombe. The  Junior Team was Brad Freemen, Rob Johnson, Lee Sealey and Frazer Norrie. A strong entry of 14 British riders made the journey to the Czech Republic.

The going was soft after rain in the lead up to the event and a tough opening day got tougher as the rain returned. The schedule called for 3 laps of 60km with 3 tests per lap. Tom Sagar (Colwyn Bay KTM) set the fastest time in the E2 class in the opening cross country test and Jamie Lewis was 3rd. At the end of the first lap Steve Holcombe was the best Junior E1 and James Dent was 5th. Micheluz Maurizio led the Senior E1s ahead of Jack Rowland. Joe Wootton, Rob Johnson and Norrie Frazer were 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the Junior E2/E3 class. On the first 2 tests of the 2nd lap Tom Sagar lost 23 seconds and dropped to 2nd behind Mirco Gritti. Jamie Lewis fell back to 8th. Carl Jones was 10th. Brad Freeman led the Under 20s ahead of Lee Sealey. Adam James was 15th. Katie Walker was 5th in the Womens class. At the end of lap 2 Katie had climbed to 3rd. On the 3rd lap Steve Holcombe took the overall lead, Sagar pushed hard and re-took the lead in the Senior E2..Jamie Lewis retired when his subframe collapsed. Brad Freeman took the U20 class. Jack Rowland was 2nd in the E1 class.

The MCC of Wales sent a young club team consisting of Joe Wooton, Adam James and Gavin Rosser. They did well and finished 2nd.

As the course dried Steve Holcombe was again the fastest rider on Day 2. Brad Freeman won his class with a 4th overall and secured the U20 European Championship. Lee Sealey was 2nd in the same class and took 3rd in the Championship. Jamie Lewis was 5th on Day 2 and that was good enough to finish E2 runner up. Jack Rowland secured 2nd place in E1 Championship. Katie Walker won the Women’s class and took the runner up in the 2014 Women’s Championship

Italian Maurizio Micheluz retained the overall Championship.  Tom Sagar was unlucky when he dropped 40 seconds due to a derailed chain but he clinched the E2 title. . Details - Entry List
