Championship at Bagshot in what can only be described as water logged,
however the Surrey Police team have managed to put in a 5 mile loop avoiding
the worst hit areas to avoid a back log of stuck riders and with an entry of
180+ it was a tough ask but somehow it all ended well but was most
definitely a testament of endurance and toughness.
Championship Class
What a great final round with so many permutations but it was Ben Wibberley
who took command early on with Jon Hunt fast on his heels and a rejuvenated
Aaron Smith in 3rd and series leader Phil Wiffen in 4th, early crash
thwarted Aaron Smith’s progress, Jon Hunt took lead from Wibberley and
very much looked like he would take win but as the conditions worsened the
wet weather maestro Wiffen came into his own and passed Wibberley and was
not long before he had challenged Hunt and taken the lead and take the
victory with Hunt taking runners up spot, Wibberley held off a late
challenge from Clive Gammage to hold on to 3rd place with Dan Lawry
finishing off the top 5.
Expert Class
3rd overall and very much on championship times was expert class winner
Royal Engineer Tom Ellwood who was pushed all day by Mark Kirby but the
Royal Engineers youth and fitness showed in the final stages but a mightily
warrior showing from Kirby in runners up spot, 3rd to Dorset’s Jack Hooper
with 9 laps completed, 4th Freddie Broadway whom has not ridden all year put
in a great showing in such testing conditions for bike and rider, 5th
Tristan Robinson who put all his trials skills to test today to get that top
5 position.
Vet A Class + Vet A O50
What a great battle in this class with the top 3 really battling it out but
too many crashes for the never give up Tom Moore gave him 3rd spot, 2nd and
a rare outing for Docklands Rider Chris Salt who looked as graceful as ever
in the testing conditions however it was the skilful but ever consistent
Darren Osborne who took top honours in the class abundant in class, 4th went
to Daz Lee whose race nearly ended on lap one after finding a very deep
puddle on the first bend but recovered well, 5th and a very consistent and
solid showing for Ian Mitchell.
The Over 50 class was even tighter for the top three who were only separated
by two minutes but in my eyes it was won by the one who wanted it most Steve
Bird and that showed in his aggression not only on the going but also
refuelling, runner up Joe Beard who looked silky smooth and pretty much
faultless all day, 3rd was the laid back Graham Reid.
Clubman A Class
Matthew Dark was very much the lone victor in the A class with 9 laps
completed which was 1 more than his closest rival, runner up was farrier
Daniel Dicker whom has jumped to the A class from the B class and showing
what a great move that was, 3rd Ross Kerr on his first outing on the new Gas
Gas 125 two stroke and looked very much the perfect tool for Ross with 8
laps completed, 4th Darren Perry who no matter what conditions always comes
up in the top 5, 5th London Fire Brigades John Gilbertson who seemed to gel
with conditions and get a top result.
Clubman B Class
Clubman B was as always very close in the championship standings with Brad
Warton needing the win and Lee Boulden to falter and Brad did what he had to
do and took the victory but the very skilful Lee Boulden knew it was his to
lose so did not do anything stupid and came in runners up spot, Teenager
Harvey Bish came in 3rd with his best performance all season.
Vet B Class + Vet B O50
Vet B winner was Dean Reed who completed 8 laps with a very much rejuvenated
Jeff Cannons in runners up spot in what can only be described as the
comeback of the year after a 5 year absence, 3rd to the Witley MCC legend
many Bernardez.
The Over 50 class was won by Carl Smye who was pushed all the way by Stephen
Scott and swapped positions a few times both completed 7 laps as did 3rd
placed Hans Gilham.
Sportsman Class
Sportsman class was won by James Bowman whom was having his first outing in
wet conditions and what a great initiation, runner up was Frenchman
Fredderic Torres, and the likeable Stephen Tull in 3rd.
