Danny McCanney and Alfredo Gomez were smooth and they both set good times but David Knight laid down a scorcher. Taddy Blazusiak and Jonny Walker went last. The course was narrow in places and Taddy opted to ride a 2 stroke for the first time in 5 years. He set the fastest time but not for long as Jonny Walker overtook him.

The Prestige races were 6 minutes plus 1 lap. The first corner was a narrow right hander with no rear braking. Alfredo Gomez took the holeshot. Taddy Blazusiak and Jonny Walker came together in the pack and they both went down. Gomez held the lead despite pressure from David Knight and Cody Webb. He ha not expected to be in the front as he had goggle wipes taped to mudguard but he persevered until he collided with a back marker in the logs. Cody Webb seized the moment and he took lead on his new KTM.  The logs around the water jump became slippery and the jumping diminished. Eventually  Webb crashed on the logs and Taddy Blazusiak took the lead and the win from last place.

In Race 2 the starting order was reversed. Dani Gilbert took the holeshot. Dani Gilbert and Mario Roman were early leaders  but Taddy was soon moving up through the pack. Paul Bolton was having a good race in 5th. Edward Huebner crashed heavily doubling the tractor tyres. Danny McCanney also took a spill in the rockery. Taddy Blazusiak looked to be cruising towards a second win until he looped out on the wet logs but he held his lead. Taddy took the win and David Knight was runner up. Dani Gilbert was 3rd, Mario Roman 4th and Jonny Walker 5th,

19 year old Ty Tremaine from the USA won the first 2 races in the Juniors and while the Prestige racers recovered the young guns rode their final race of the evening. Andreas Linusson was runner up and Andreas Lettenbichler's son Manuel was 3rd.

Overall Ty Tremaine was 1st. Andreas Linusson was 2nd and Jack Rowland was 3rd. Manuel Lettenbichler was 4th, Wale's Gethin Humphreys was 5th and Tim Apolle was 6th. With no advantage to pushing, David settled for 3rd to take the 2nd overall for the night. Cody Webb was 4th, Alfredo Gomez was 5th and Kyle Redmond was 6th.

Results

Taddy Blazusiak "It's a great start to the Championship for me. I am super pumped. We are leaving the first round with a really healthy lead. I am going to celebrate a bit tonight and then back to work on Monday".

David Knight "I am absolutely made up. For me it has been a massive achievement just to get here. I almost didn't make it. It has been a tough season. These boys are race fit. They have been racing all season. You can practice a lot but there is nothing like racing so to get here and get 2nd - you don't know how happy I am".

Cody Webb "I had a rough night - going down several times. My forearms are tight and I have only had 4 days on the new bike so I am pleased with my result.

Jonny Walker I haven't had the best of nights. I got caught up on the first corner in the first race. Then in the second race was going good then some guy crashed in front of me. I am happy to get a good third race in but I am definitely not happy the way tonight has gone. I will definitely come back stronger in Germany.

Alfredo Gomez "I think I got the best start I’ve ever had in the first final. I took the holeshot and lead the race for three laps. I was feeling really good. Then I caught a lapped rider. I tried to pass to the left of him in the water and he moved the same way. That knocked me off my bike and off the track. Then I started to make many mistakes, because I wanted to win. I fell some more times and eventually finished fifth. In the second and third races I made some mistake more, but even with these mistakes I was not so far from the top three. I’m looking forward to the rest of the championship.”

Danny McCanney: “Things didn't go like I hoped they would, so I’m a little frustrated with my night. They started well with a sixth in the first race, but after that things didn't work out so well. Being my first race for Husqvarna I really wanted to do well, but like a lot of riders things didn't go to plan. The track was pretty physical, there were lots of places where it was really easy to make mistakes. I learned a lot, things will be better in Germany.”

The 2015 Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship moves onto the Erdgas Arena in Riesa, Germany on January 3.
