Fast Eddy Presentation Evening

Telford’s Holiday Inn was buzzing on Saturday night as the annual Fast Eddy awards presentation evening attracted a packed house for a great start to the year, celebrating the achievements of last season.

This annual invasion of the Holiday Inn saw both the bar staff and pool attendants stretched to the max as young and not so young made the most of the extensive facilities available to them.

This great social gathering continues to grow year on year with trophies for the GBXC Sprint Nationals, GBXC, Steady Eddy series and the Rock Oil XC Championship all on display at the head of the room, ready to be presented once the meal is done and dusted.

In addition to the outstanding silverware, class winners of each series also picked up a framed photograph of themselves in action at various events, with the series logo, name and class on the image, which was a really nice touch.

Derrick Edmondson, Jim Pascoe and Lee Edmondson all presented the awards with Fast Eddy himself presenting the final very special award of the evening – The Joe Edge Award, a shield which will be awarded annually, donated by the Edge family in remembrance of their son Joe who passed away last year.

Choosing the first recipient of this exceptional shield was not an easy task. It was awarded to a rider who has shown great resilience, excellent spirit and true determination to finish races no matter what was thrown at him.

Young Auto rider Alfie Davies will be the first name on the shield, in recognition of his superb efforts throughout the season and ‘iron-will’ not to give in at any point. His superb effort at Hawkstone Park, getting around the course on an Auto (something which Fast Eddy didn’t think possible), was worth an award on its own merit.

Another excellent evening for Fast Eddy riders. Everyone in attendance would like to say a huge thank you to the whole of the Fast Eddy organisation for yet another top-notch event.
