 EASTERN
CENTRE ACU 2015 SOLO ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP
UPDATE MAY 2015.
With Round 4 of the G H Motorcycles / Husqvarna / Eastern Centre Enduro
Championship on Sunday 14th June 2015 at Little Hadham Herts what are the
current positions in the six classes. This update is based on information I
have to hand and is not necessarily 100% accurate and official.
With past Centre Champion Aston Bird (Woodbridge) competing in Enduros
rather than Moto Cross this year one of his contenders has said that this is
a good thing as it freshens up the Contest which it has. Aston has had a
3rd,2nd and a 1st and leads the Championship Class on 52 points with Brad
Freeman (OTC) and Jamie Roper (Sudbury) joint 2nd on 40 points, Chris Hockey
(Sudbury) 3rd on 36 points and Sam Toy (Sudbury) 27 points. It is difficult
at this stage to predict the Champion this year as some competitors have not
ridden all three rounds and only four out of the five rounds will count,
however we discount Brad to win the Title of Eastern Centre Champion as he
is an out of the Centre rider. With Aston’s 12 point lead and a win at
Hadham could well secure him the Title, it will be all down to the day.
Will Hughes (Braintree) has been taking the Expert Class by storm despite
not winning a single round so far. Will has 44 points, Jake Gregory (Stowmarket)
37 points, Ben Alexander (Woodbridge) 35 points, Jack Grice (Lowestoft) 28
points and Rob Blackman (Castle Colchester) 24 points. Both Jake and Rob
have missed one of the three rounds so I think the Title will be decided at
the last round.
Gavin Hockey (Sudbury) the event sponsor still leads the Expert Veteran
Class on 54 points from Phil Roper (Sudbury) 43 points, Michael Ridge (Stowmarket)
35 points, Mark Chapman (Diss) 33 points, John Bishop (Lowestoft) and Graham
Lazzari (Lowestoft) both on 28 points. Again I think this Class Title will
be decided at the last round as both Michael and Mark (current Champion)
have missed a round each.
Martin Stevens (Diss) and Alex Rampton (Sudbury) have been neck and neck
in the Clubman Class however with Alex’s win and Martin’s 6th place at
round 3 Alex now leads the Class of 57 points with Martin on 47 points, Ryan
McDonnell (Sudbury) 38 points, Kevin Palmer (Norwich) 26 points, Rob
Aldridge (Diss) and Alex Walton (Sudbury) both on 22 points. While Kevin,
Rob and Alex W having missed a round I feel this Class is between Alex R,
Martin and Ryan and who knows could the Title be won at round 4 Hadham.
At the moment the Clubman Veteran Class is closely contested with Kevin
Gore (Norwich) on 35 points, Dean Curry (Sudbury) 31 points, Peter Andrews
(Woodbridge) 29 points, Jason Carsboult (Sudbury) 27 points and jointly on
26 points John Austin (Sudbury) and Duncan Griffin (Diss). Kevin, Jason,
John and Duncan have missed a round and I feel that Kevin is the favourite
to win the Class Title.
Clive Stevens (Diss) leads the Clubman Super Veteran Class on 46 points
with Steve Finch (Braintree) and Andy Mason (Sudbury and current Champion)
on 40 points, next Adrian Rickwood (TBEC) 36 points, Gary Drage (Sudbury) 27
points and Perry Miller (Sudbury) 20 points. Andy and Perry have missed a
round so far, while we hope Clive’s injured thumb is better I can see a
scrap for the Class Title going all the way to the last round at Butley.
Lastly I must mention the current positions for the 2015 Team Dave Roper
Challenge. Alex Rampton has 299 points, Ryan McDonnell 290, Ben Roper 256
points and Nathan Greenaway 174.
