Right on the Yorkshire Lancashire border Tosside played host to Round 7 of the 2015 RAW Enduro championship last Sunday. A superb free flowing course had been designed and marked out by Wayne Braybrook and his crew to give a real mix of challenges. The course had a fairly even split of fast open fields and some traditional "roll the sleeves up and get on with it" Enduro terrain.

A small Youth class entry still had their own separate event despite the low numbers in attendance; Thomas Widd took a convincing win over Harry Conner, with RG Racings Dom Richardson not having his best day out still grabbing third.

A well attended morning event saw riders travelling some distances to enjoy their own 2 hour battle. With early morning drizzle now gone, the AM classes were flagged away. Mark Barrow was the holeshot king in the sportsman vets class, Mark had pressure all race long from Lancastrian Mick Bottomley, the pair swapped the lead a couple of times before Bottomley took a well deserved win. Mark Barrow held on to second. Third place in the sportsman vets was Peter Brown who hasn't ridden a bike competitively for almost 7 years!! Well done Browny, still got the ability even if the legs were tired!

The sportsman class saw a battle all race long between Joel Foster and Ryan Chapman, Ryan's Sherco clobbered a rock in the early stages leaving him with no front brake all race long, Joel Fosters never give in style saw him grind out a great win on his Husky. Chapman pushed right to the flag and only missed the win by 4 seconds; James Cooke Thomas overcame a broken finger from round 6 to grab a well earned third place and vital championship points. Dawson Marriott took his Mansfield Motorcycles KTM to a great win in the beginner's class and in doing so sealed the overall championship in class. Well done Dawson great season of racing. Anita Gordon returned to the top step of the ladies class despite being put under pressure in the closing stages from Nikita Miller. Another battle to the flag saw local Enduro vet John Lofthouse dicing with Brett Haley for the win in the over 50 class, despite his best efforts Lofthouse missed the win by just 6 seconds as Brett Haley made his last lap count to the finish line.

With a now rapidly drying track in almost perfect condition, after a short break for PM track additions and repairs, slightly ahead of the 1.30 start time the faster more experienced riders were unleashed from the start area. Chris Hughes made a great start in the Expert class and he was followed by the expert field hunting him down as he ripped around the fast field sections on his KTM. Sam Winterburn made his return to racing at Tosside after a long break with injury, looking happy enough Sam had to retire early in the race after his Rear suspension locked up. Lee Sampson overcame a slow start on his MRS Sherco and began to hunt down runaway leader Hughes. Despite getting the gap down to 20 seconds at one point, Hughes maintained the gap to the finish taking a solid win. Sampson had to settle for runner up spot and Phil Hancock had a great weekend taking the final podium place at the finish. Around 30 minutes from the end of the PM event a light rain shower made conditions difficult on the steep climbs around the venue; Ross Hall being a lover of hard enduro's relished the conditions and took a strong win in the Expert Vets class. Mick Boam had to settle for runner up spot after an early race get off saw him with a sore wrist. Local ace Chris Ball was the only other expert vet to complete 17 laps. Danny Clarke edged closer towards the top of the Clubman vets title race by taking a good win in class, despite being hero to zero after his holeshot advantage was diminished as he crashed through the first gateway; a great recovery saw DC happy with his win.

Iain Robinson was once again Clubman victor, the clubman title race will go down to the last round of the season, Josh Bailey took runner up place at Tosside, and a notable absence was Brad Lilburn who was sunning himself on his holidays! Jade Gordon had her best ride of the season taking her 125 Husky to a very credible third place in class, well done Jadey.

Tosside provided a mix of terrain very rarely seen in current trend hare & Hounds, the traditional Enduro theme was complimented by the adrenaline fuelled fast open field sections, all in all everyone who attended had a great day of RAW Enduro action. There is a one month break for RAW Enduro now as the holiday season is in full swing. So the time will be wisely spent seeking out new venues for the remainder of 2015 in preparation for next season. Thanks to all the hard working RAW Staff, great job well done as ever.

The Next RAW championship event is on September 6th , RAW Enduro are looking at 2 new venues before a decision is made on where the penultimate event of the 2015 championship is to be held. More info on the RAW Enduro facebook page or visit www.rawenduro.co.uk
