EASTERN
CENTRE ACU 2015 SOLO ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIPUPDATE AUGUST 2015. Roger Chaplin The 2015 G H Motorcycles / Husqvarna / Eastern Centre Solo Enduro Championship reaches its climax on Sunday 30th August with the fifth and final round at Butley Suffolk the event being organised by the Woodbridge Motor Cycle Club. Five of the six Class Titles are up for grabs and starting with the prestigious Championship Class again like the last few years only two riders can win and claim the Title Eastern Centre Enduro Champion, however nine times Champion Chris Hockey (Sudbury) for once is not one of them. The two contenders are Aston Bird (Woodbridge) past Champion on 65 points and Jamie Roper (Sudbury) current Champion on 60 points. It is believed that Bird will not be riding and it would seem that Roper could retain his Title however as it is the riders best four results out of five that will count Roper needs third place which would give him 15 points less his worst round score of 8th that is 8 points resulting in net 7 points if he finish 4th although on equal points with Bird would lose out to him on best rounds scores. All is not plain sailing for Roper as at this last round several British Championship riders compete and last year they took the first three places so the odds are on Bird. Will Hughes (Braintree) has already won the Expert Class so five riders battle it out for second and third.
The Competition Sponsor Gavin Hockey (Sudbury) leads the Expert Veteran Class on 71 points with Phil Roper (Sudbury) 2nd on 58 points and Current Class Champion Mark Chapman on 53 points. P Roper cannot catch G Hockey however Chapman as he has only ridden in three rounds can win and retain his Title which he is quite capable to do, anything less, then G Hockey takes the Title. Martin Stevens (Diss) who led the Clubman Class for the first two rounds now finds himself joint second with Ryan McDonnell (Sudbury) on 58 points both behind Alex Rampton (Sudbury) on 65 points. Rampton was running away in this Class after the third round but a lowly 8th place at the last round have given Stevens and McDonnell the opportunity to clinch the Title. The Clubman Veteran Class is the most interesting as eight riders are in the running for the Class Title, John Austin (Sudbury) leads on 46 points, followed by Jason Carsboult (Sudbury) 44 points, Dean Curry (Sudbury) 41 points, Terry Allen (TBEC) 37 points, Duncan Griffin (Diss) and Kevin Gore (Norwich) both on 35 points, Jeff Turner (Sudbury) 32 points and Peter Andrews (Woodbridge) 29 points. Curry is the only rider who has competed in all four rounds so will be up against it. Clive Stevens (Diss) has led the Clubman Super Class from round one however he is now joint leader with Andy Mason (Sudbury), current Champion on 57 points with Adrian Rickwood (TBEC) 3rd 49 points, Gary Drage (Sudbury) 4th 47 points and Steve Finch (Braintree) 5th 40 points. Both Mason and Finch have missed one round so all their points scored on Sunday will count. In the Team Dave Roper Challenge Rampton has 392 points with McDonnell on 390 points and what could happen McDonnell could win the Clubman Class Title with Rampton winning the TDR Challenge because of the different point scoring system. All what has been written is theory or possible predictions so what happens on the day will count and there could be some surprises. |
