Simon Rees Memorial Hare and Hounds
Cwmythig Hill complex.

In brilliant sunshine and a well prepared track the Rhayader club held their annual Simon Rees Memorial Hare and Hounds at their Cwmythig Hill complex.

There was excellent competition in all classes , none more so than in the experts class where local rider Adam James and Garin Rosser from South Wales battled all the way to the flag with the lead changing hands several times before Rosser pulled out a small lead before hard charging James reduced the margin to just seven seconds at the finish, these two well ahead of third place man Ben Smith.

Michael Dutton finished top in the clubman class with John Wilding runner up and Colin Jenkins third all on nineteen laps while the Over 40s class Martin P Jones had just 24 seconds in hand from Jason Rees with Ryan Leary third. Regular visitor to Rhayader events Colin Griffiths had an easy win in the Over 50 class while in the large sportsman class Lee Morgan managed an extra lap to head the class ahead of Tom James while local rider Brett Griffiths managed third place and with it taking the Simon Rees Trophy for the best local sportsman.

The sidecars were also out in force with newly crown British Enduro Champion David Williams and Simon Brown challenge by top Moto Crosser Simon Bradford , Bradford was soon the early leader but Williams was chasing hard until mechanical troubles halted his progress to leave Dan Lawry / Sam Wilkinson in runner up berth. In the clubman sidecar category Martin Rowan and passenger Anthony Mills were in control from the off eventually finishing two laps ahead of Simon Chilcott
