THE TOUGH ONE'S LITTLE BROTHER EXTREME ENDURO
11th OCTOBER 2015
NANTMAWR QUARRY.

"TOUGH AT THE TOLB"
Report by Keith Williams.

"The Tough Ones little brother extreme enduro just got a little bit tougher last weekend as the Promoters and Organisers, WOR Events, provided a couple of superb races for all the riders throughout all the classes at the World famous home of the Tough One Enduro at Nantmawr Quarry in Shropshire.

The track was challenging, technical and demanding but more importantly it was ride able, achievable and enjoyable, the key ingredients for a proper Extreme Enduro and something that Steve Ireland and his WOR Team have perfected over the years having gained unrivalled experience in this format of Hard Enduro events.

The day was split into two races, the 10am morning race being for the Sportsman, Novice, Youth and Over 40's B riders and the 1pm Afternoon race for the Experts, Clubman and Expert Vet riders, both races being 2 hours in duration.

MORNING RACE :

Gary Morley (below) was the main man in the morning race as he defied his 50 years of age to take the Over 40 B class win along with the Overall victory for the race. He was in great form, very smooth, very steady and led from start to finish on his KTM 2t. Morely was nearly a complete lap ahead of Runner Up, Ricky Tropman comfortably ahead of third placed Andy Jones.

Top Sportsman was rider number 1, Scott Booth, Living up to his race number and putting in a very strong ride to put 2 and a half minutes winning advantage over Runner Up, Young Edddy Emery. Third place went to Oliver Fortune with a determined ride. Booth and Emery where the only riders in class to do 11 laps.

William Stansbie (right) was simply flying and was untouchable in the Youth class. Stansbie was the defending champ from the Youth class from the last TOLB and he was out to keep his crown. Will finished a complete lap up on 2nd placed Rhys Davies, Davies himself having a very strong ride indeed, Stansbie was a brilliant 7th Overall in the entire morning race rankings. Third place award went to Vinny Wardale with a neat and composed performance on his Husky 125. A lap separated the top 3 with 10, 9, 8 being the scores.

Finally in the Morning race it was the Novice class that produced some real close racing. All the top 3 were on 8 laps each and only minutes apart. The winner was Ben Hurley whom struggled with a broken gear lever, from Runner Up, Nick Emery who was going very smooth on his 4t with Beta mounted Will Wynn doing great to take the Bronze award.

Straight away results were produced, a nice awards presentation took place, the hard working WOR team did a few repairs to the course, they grabbed a quick burger and then it was off at 1pm sharp for the Expert and Clubman race. The only change in the track between the two races being the inclusion of an old car to ride over for the PM race participants.

AFTERNOON RACE :

The racing action was thick and fast in this race as the top 3 Experts all completed 14 laps each and where the only riders to do so. It was a Husqvarna top 3 as well with the popular Brand being the bike of choice for those flying top 3 pilots. Top man was Gethin Humphreys on the 250f , Gethin led from start to finish and looked strong and fit as he made light work of the course and showed his speed and stamina to take the glory by beating defending champion and hi Older Brother, Owain Humphreys into the Runners Up spot. Owain was 1 minute and 20 seconds down on his brother but it was Owain on the 350f that got the biggest cheers in the race for the massive jump he was doing over the MadScrap car challenge every lap. Huge air was in-between Owain and the ground as he took off from the windscreen every lap. A very consistent Gary Daniels on his 2t Husky was third placed and well deserved of his podium albeit a good 6 minutes adrift of the front two riders.

The Clubman class also had a right battle going on with the racing true and fair at the front of the pack. Winner with a very neat ride indeed was number 26, Jack Heath. Heath led from the start till the end but was always hotly pursued by Runner Up Ross Davies and eventual third placed Ryan Cox. Sam Skyrme and Damo Siviter also deserve a mention as they put in quality rides of speed and determination. The top 4 riders in class completed 12 laps each.

Ross Hall put yet another Husqvarna at the top of the podium as he simply blitzed the Over 40 A group and finished 3 laps clear at the sharp end of the results. Riding smooth and neat on the 300 2t , Hall kept ahead of Runner Up, Martin Wells with 3rd placed Mike Wood toughing it out to take the final podium place of the day.

It was a great day with bright autumn sunshine making it even more pleasant for the riders and groups of spectators that enjoyed the spectacle. A Hill in the quarry basin was the focus for most spectator action as the images and noises of extreme enduro carnage was a pleasure to behold as the ooooo's and arrrh's from riders and their engines and delighted fans filled this very special venue with almost as much excitement as the massive Tough One Older brother does each year as part of the Redbull World tour of Hard Enduro.

As always the organisers would like to say a massive thank you to the land owners, staff, medics, caterers and all helpers who make these events possible. The biggest thank you though as always goes to the riders that support the events and continue to impress with their never say die attitude in these demanding Extreme Enduro events.

WOR's next event is now the CF Racing Sucker Punch 100 Extreme Enduro this coming Sunday, The club would like to remind Spectators that this event is unfortunately a non spectator event and would like people to respect that.
