Fast Eddy Racing - Westwood Sprint Enduro

The Fast Eddy crew traveled north this weekend to the chilly but superb Westwood circuit near Sheffield. Saturday was a full on FED day with riders checking out the sprint course and getting a bit of extreme training in on the logs and tyres at various points around the course.

Sunday was Sprint day with a twist. The morning started off with the usual sighting lap on what was a good 6 minutes plus lap for the likes of Pro riders Jack Edmondson and Lee Sealey and a good ten minutes plus for some of the novice and under 13 riders. Unlike our normal sprint events where the winners are those with the lowest overall time, this event was to be decided by who was the fastest rider in each class with the eventual winners taking home the prizes.

Timed lap one saw Jack Eddy go off first and set a very competitive lap of 6.20 minutes, Lee Sealey followed him out of the holding pen focussed and determined but crossed the finish line a good 14 seconds behind. Lee battled to catch Jack for the rest of the day until fork problems forced him to pull out getting as close as 9.9 seconds behind but no closer. Fast Ed, himself, did throw in a couple of fast laps just to see how he faired against his big son but he too was a good 16 seconds off Jack's pace. Jack's fastest lap of the day was 6.11 minutes in lap 3 but he was pretty consistent throughout despite the little bit of rain that made the track a bit slippy.

Fastest Clubman was Elliot Bradshaw who was just off the pace of Jack Eddy and Lee Sealey with times of around 6.50 to 7 minutes. The tussle for the second and third place honours in the Clubman was very competitive, early indications were that Richard Cookland would be challenging Elliot but an argument with a tree in the woods ended Richard's day quite abruptly in timed lap three.

The fastest Sportsman was Kurt Weston with a time of 7.30 minutes, the fastest Novice was Frankie White Edwards (who has only recently moved from the youth class and seems to be coming along very well in the new class) with a time of 8.06 minutes, the fastest vet was "Flying" Ryan Griffiths who started off steady and then as the track bedded in got faster and faster and achieved a time of 7.05 minutes which was as quick as some of the young pro/expert riders taking part.

The younger riders were split in to two groups Youth 13 to 16 and Youth under 13. The fastest Youth 13to 16 was the third member of the Edmondson Family Harry who put in a brilliant time of 7.22 minutes and not far behind Harry was the Youth under 13 winner Cole Cookland with a time of 7.32 minutes.

All winners of the class winners are pictured with their winning cheques and product prizes and we would like to say a big thanks to the Truck Rental Company for supporting the event with the fastest lap prize money.

We hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and would like to thank them all for their continued support. We look forward to seeing you all at our next event or at the up and coming Enduro Extreme Indoor event on Sunday 1st November.
