Chambers smokes to Ravines win Dirtbike Action The Hangover Mini Ravines 28th December Dirtbike action ran their traditional Christmas event at Helmsley this year which was a wise decision as despite record levels of rainfall the venue stood up well. The event Mini Ravines was designed as a hard enduro that would test the top riders but was also achievable by the clubmen and sportsmen riders. Clerk of the course John Kerwin and the experienced Dirtbike action crew plotted a 12 km course that had 6 testing climbs linked by tough forest going. At 10am John Kerwin got the event underway with the quality expert entry heading into the woods with Lee Sampson at the front, but the pack was on his heels which included Joe Chambers, Luke Lusher, Billy Bolt on his enduro debut, Biff Smith, Sam Ludgate and Henry Moorhouse. Then it was the turn of the 040, clubman, and sportsmen to join in with the extreme fest. It was going to be a 30 minute wait before the riders returned to lap scoring and it was MRS sherco mounted Luke Lusher leading from Euroteks Joe Chambers second, Korr KTM Billy Bolt 3rd but by the end of lap 2 Joe Chambers was in the lead. Lee Sampson had trouble on lap 3 forcing him to retire, while Luke Lusher suffered a derailing chain causing him a large loss of time. As the leading rider Joe Chambers started his 6th and final lap he was about a minute clear of Billy Bolt, Joe kept the gas on and took the chequered flag with a 5 minute winning margin over 2nd placed Billy Bolt, in third place on five laps beta rider Sam Ludgate with Luke Lusher in 4th and Biff Smith in 5th. In the 040 Mick Boam was the winner by nearly 2 minutes over 2nd placed Alex Owen with Anthony Tempest a further 10 minutes down in 3rd. The clubman class was won by James Nichols with Jamie Richardson 2nd and
Tommy Johnson 3rd all completed a creditable 4 laps. John kerwin said after the event "on reflection the event went very well with the vast majority thoroughly enjoying it considering the awful weather we had prior to the event , this type of event pushes the clubmen and sportsmen so whether you did 1 lap or 6 well done . Congratulations to big Joe on another great performance, and Billy Bolt had a great second place on his enduro debut. Have a good New Year everyone and we will be back in action in January with some practice days". |
