" TOUGH ENOUGH" THE TOUGH ONE'S LITTLE BROTHER 2016, Nantmawr Quarry. January 24th . "The Tough One little brother Extreme Enduro ran for the last time last Sunday at the Nantmawr Quarry and it was probably one of the best Little Brother Extremes that have ever been produced. WOR Events set out a flowing, yet technical and challenging track that offered the full house of riders a true taster of Extreme enduro and tested their strength, skill, stamina and resolve to the core. Conditions were wet on the ground although the rain kept away all day for the race leaving the quarry offering surprising levels of grip.
Making the trip up from South Wales (along with a big group from that area that always support WOR's big events) was 16 year old Ryan Cox, Cox (KTM) is certainly a name to keep an eye on as he rode with a skill and mindset much older than his years would suggest. Taking a clean and tidy overall win in the always competitive Clubman Class, Cox led from the 2 nd lap and was over 6 minutes clear of the Runner Up Ben Kirkman. Honda mounted Kirkman was himself in great form and really did deserve his podium placing with a committed and battling ride on the 250f 4t. Liam Robinson on his KTM rounded out the Clubman podium with a fine ride too as he matched the top 2 riders on 11 laps each. The podium guys were the only riders in the class to achieve those 11 laps. Karl Greenhall is a class act in the Over 40's and showed his experience and ability in bundles as he topped the Clubman Vets by a country mile almost a full lap ahead of Runner Up, MTB ace, Nige Page. Karl on the KTM and Page on the Husqvarna were followed home by D3 racing Boss, Neil Crayston with Greenhall on 11 laps and Page and Crayston on 10 each after 2 hours of battle. Earlier in the day the Sportsman race had taken place with a 10am Sharp
start for the riders, again over a 2 hour duration. Ricky Tropman was the man to beat in the Sportsman Vets as he again was the only man in class to achieve the 9 lap mark and leave Mark Barrow and Andrew Mills battling it out for 2nd and 3rd spot. Barrow taking a 3 minute advantage over Mills come the end of the contest. It was close stuff at the sharp end of the Youth class as the flying Rhys
Davies and William Stansbie went tooth and nail for the victory. Davies
taking the win in the end form the hard charging Stansbie by 26 seconds with
both on 8 laps each. Fianlly in the always well supported Novice class it was Ben Hurley as the Victor with WOR newcomer, Keith Maude taking a well earned Runners up spot and Matt Connell showing his improving skills with a well earned 3rd place. All 3 riders on 7 laps each.
WOR Events would like to thank, the Landowners, Sponsors, Staff, Medics, Caterers and most of all the Riders for again making these superb events happen. More details on a very busy and exciting season ahead for WOR at www.worevents.com |
