Tuareg Rally
James Ford in 2nd
March 5th -12th.

James Ford is riding his first Tuareg Rally. After making a navigational mistake on Day 1 he finished adrift in  9th before finding his bearings on Day 2 to take 2nd and move up the leader board into 3rd.

A small crash on Day 3 damaged James' GPS and he lost time finding the last checkpoint. He finished 6th but held his 3rd place overall with a  45 minute gap to 4th.

Day 4 lived up to it's reputation as the hardest stage of the rally designed so that hardly anybody gets all the checks in time. James Finished 4th after 9.5 hours of riding.

"Never been so knackered in my entire life. Only 6 riders managed to finish today's stage in the time limit with all the checkpoints. Now up to 2nd overall with a short day tomorrow, only 80kms. Chance to have a rest in the afternoon."

Day 5 James reports "4th on today's stage of the Tuareg rally. Only 80km race in the dunes, so have had chance to chill this afternoon after yesterday's long day. Heading back to Zagora tomorrow, long day ahead again. Still in 2nd overall, hopefully I can keep hold of the position".

James finished 2nd overall in the Tuareg rally, He said b" It has been a long old week. I am really happy with the result! Big thanks to Patsy Quick at Desert rose racing for the support on the event ! Bring on Libya rally.

James star\ed in car rallying and he did the British Rally Championship for 2 seasons. He rode trials when he was younger and after an 8 year lay off he tried his hand at Enduro.

"I decided to do Tuareg after doing some training in Morocco last year with Patsy Quick and yes she's doing my support for the Tuareg and the Libya rally later on in the year. The Tuareg is my first overseas bike event. The bike is basically a 2016 450 exc that I've converted myself with a larger fuel tank, rear fuel tank. bash plate with built in water container and obviously all the navigation equipment".
