Walker fights injury to take third in 2015/16 SuperEnduro World Championship Racing a second consecutive round of the 2015/16 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship with a fractured right Fibula Jonny Walker disappointing came up short in his challenge to capture a first SuperEnduro world title. With medical checks following the penultimate round of the series in Prague revealing a fractured right Fibula, the KTM rider endured a tough night of racing at the championship’s final in Spain. Doing all he could Jonny ended the closing round of the series in seventh overall, placing third in the 2015/16 SuperEnduro World Championship standings. Starting his SuperEnduro campaign with an overall runner-up result at round one in Poland, Jonny then backed that up with a another runner-up result at round two in Germany. At round three in Argentina Jonny claimed his first overall winning result, moving to the top of the series’ point standings. Third overall in Brazil, Jonny remained at the head of the championship before injuring his leg in a practice fall at the penultimate round in the Prague. Walker will now focus on recovering from his leg injury ahead of the re-start of the 2016 Extreme Enduro season. Jonny Walker: “It’s tough to lose the championship at the last round, but to get third in what was arguably the most intense season of SuperEnduro racing there’s been is nothing but a good thing. I put an incredible amount of effort into preparing for SuperEnduro during the winter and there was no way I would give up. I knew that my chances of winning the title weren’t great, because of the broken Fibula, but I felt like I had to at least try. Honestly, I gave it everything I had. Even in the last race in Madrid I still had chances but crashed heavily and had to settle for sixth. It’s not great to get so close to the title and not be fit and able to fight for it at the last race, but I’ve shown what I’m capable of this year. I was one of the most consistent guys, won races and lead the championship for a while. It’s been great battling with Cody, Colton and Taddy. Congratulations to Colton, and a huge thanks to all the KTM team.” 2015/16 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship Standings Prestige Class 1. Colton Haaker (Husqvarna) 292pts; 2.
