Enduro GP of Finland Day 1 A bright morning and Eero Remes was the brightest on the opening Enduro test ahead of Matthew Phillips and Loic Larrieu. Steve Holcombe was 4th and he led the E3 class. Nathan Watson was 9th and Danny McCanney was 11th. In the Junior class the top 3 were Kiran Mirabet, Davide Soreca and Giacomo Redondi. Josh Gotts was 17th. Jack Edmondson posted a flyer in the Youth class - 22 seconds faster than 2nd placed Antti Hanninen with Lee Sealey in 3rd. Jane Daniels also got off to a great start with a 19 second lead over Laia Sanz in the Women's class, Eero Remes won the first MX test and he took the overall lead. Jack Edmondson extended his lead by another 12 seconds. British grit came into play on the Extreme test with Steve Holcombe and Nathan Watson setting the first and second fastest times. At the end of the first lap Eero Remes led the overall ahead of Matthew Phillips and Loic Larrieu. Steve Holcombe was 5th. Nathan Watson was 8th and Danny McCanney was 11th. In the Junior class the top 3 werre Giacomo Redondi, Kiran Mirabet and Davide Soreca . Josh Gotts was 17th. Jack Edmondson led the Youth class by half a minute from Erik Appelqvist. Lee Sealey was 4th. Jane Daniels led the Women's class from Laia Sanz.
At the end of 3 laps Eero Remes was the winner and he took a 3 point lead in the standings over Matthew Phillips. Remes also topped the E1 class ahead of Nathan Watson, Pascal Rauchenecker Danny McCanney and Ivan Cervantes. "It was a great day for me,” explained Remes. "Winning and moving into the lead of the EnduroGP championship, it's hard to have a better day. I started well and then pushed hard. Everything went well, I hope day two will be the same.” Steve Holcombe was the Day 1 runner up and the best E3. Nathan Watson 3rd. Steve said "I was a little concerned after the first enduro test because I didn't feel like I'd ridden that well. But it went ok and I just kept pushing as hard as I could after that. The tests were really technical, always changing, but I enjoyed the day. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same for me.” Matthew Philips in 4th was the Best E2 and the rest of the E2s followed him home Mathias Bellino in 5th,Loic Larrieu was 6th, Alex Salvini was 7th and Taylor Robert was 8th. Moving 19 points clear at the top of the series standings. "It was a pretty good day,” commented Phillips. "I just wasn't quite fast enough in a few tests to fight for the overall win, but in Enduro 2 things were good. I earned myself some good championship points, which is important. All-in-all it was a pretty decent day.” Jonny Aubert was 2nd to Steve Holcombe in the E3 class making it a Beta one-two on the podium with Antoine Basset (KTM) third. Portugal's Luis Correia (Beta) placed fourth with Jaume Betriu (KTM) fifth and Manuel Monni (TM) sixth. Earning his seventh day win of the series Giacomo Rredondi (Honda) comfortably topped the Enduro Junior class in Heinola. Moving further ahead in the EJ championship standings, Redondi placed ahead of Josep Garcia (Husqvarna) with Albin Elowson (Husqvarna) third.
Husqvarna mounted Brit Jane Daniels secured victory in the Women's class, ending the day just over two seconds ahead of Laia Sanz (KTM). Starting her day in the best possible way, Daniels stormed the opening enduro test to open up an immediate advantage over her rivals. Producing a mistake free day she did just enough to finish ahead of Sanz. "Winning the first test really set me up for the day,” explained Jane. "I knew Laia would be pushing hard to win, so starting well really made a big difference. I went as hard as I could on the remaining tests and although Laia and Maria (Franke) were both very fast I managed to get the win.” Just 16 seconds behind DANIELS, German KTM rider Maria Franke landed herself on the podium at the end of her first day of Enduro World Championship competition. Local rider Sanna Karkkainen (KTM) placed fourth with Australia's Jemma Wilson (Yamaha) fifth
