THE LANGDALE 1 ENDURO - Round 3 Putoline Eurotek Northern Enduro Championship Report: Alistair Griffin Round 3 of the Northern Enduro Championship returned to the familiar venue of Langdale forest for Ryedale Mc's first event of 2016. Heavy rain since Friday was set to make the 22 mile lap and the long 10 min enduro test a challenge for the majority of the field. In the Championship class it was Joe Chambers on the Eurotek KTM who dominated from the word go his unique and aggressive style paid dividends in the tough going and eventually took the win by a massive 6 minute margin. Big Joe now heads the NEC standings. BETA's James Dent was closest challenger in 2nd and managed to win the 1st test, but was no match for Chambers as he set a blistering 8.22 in test 2. Gav Houson rounded out the top 3. 9 started in the Expert class but only 1 made it to the end as Alistair Griffin took his first expert class win on the KTM 125, Mr Griff was the only remaining expert on the last lap managing to stay out of any major trouble all day. Rich Milner started strong by cleaning the tight check on lap 2 but pulled out after a nightmare 1st test, Graithwaite winner Corbett also suffered from a burial in the test. The Over 40's is always a competitive class and it was Jim Wright (wrighter) he stayed clean on the going and also won on the tests taking an eventual winning margin of 1 min 18 over 2nd place man Mark Houson, both staying clean on the going. Mark Raynor rounded out the top 3 and regular Karl Greenall took 4th, Greenall cleaned the tight check but some mistakes in the test cost him a top 3. Jamie Phillips took 5th. Only 1 retired in the VETS.
Clubman honours went to the big man Lee Cairns this was a great ride after only just moving up from Sportsman. Danny Culkin rode well to take 2nd but was frustrated not to win after getting stuck in his last test. Roger Worsley won the Over 50's from John Wadsworth and Dave Trenholme all 3 riders staying clean on time. Sportsman went to Tim Fletcher with local lad Tim Cass aka ginge taking 2nd on his Gasser only 38 secs behind. Luke Tasker came 3rd in his 1st ever enduro a big well done on a tough course. David Slee was 4th Jack Turner 5th and James Earp 6th.
Well done to all 23 finishers and thanks to all riders and marshals for making the event possible. Work on the course will now take place for the September event and a new shorter test will be used.
