The second round of the RAW Enduro Challenge series headed for North Yorkshire last weekend, the awesome Ellington Banks MOD training ground gave RAW enduro it's annual one shot, access all areas land allocation to put on what was possibly the best event of 2016.

With an average lap time of around 14 minutes the fast flowing course was praised by all who competed, add in the fact that RAW were possibly the only club that weekend to have great dry weather, and the end result was predictable, another fantastic days enduro sport.

Youth riders were once again given the whole adult loop to compete on, Richie Moorhouse led the youth A class until a front puncture allowed RAW Enduro rider Saul Hirst to take the win. Newcomer Joe Cooper rode really well to take the Youth B honours, and local lad George Barker earned his first RAW trophy in only his first season competing.

At bang on 11am the adult 5 hour event was fired into life around the now nicely run in track. Clerk of the course Wayne Braybrook had spent many hours designing the course, which was challenging, but easy to negotiate for the novice riders.

Expert rider Brad Lilburn was pushed hard by Phil Hancock in the early stages of the race, until Hancock had to pit to fix a sticking rear brake pedal on his Beta. Old warhorse Alex Owen ground out a great 3rd place in the Expert class by doing what he does best just keeping going. Marc Vardy won the clubman class despite a serious challenge from Adam Mulholland, "Cab" was just over two minutes behind Vardy at the flag which shows how much he's improved in 2016.

In the super competitive clubman team class Danny Kidd and Luke Knight finished one lap up thanks to great last lap timing judgement, sneaking through just before the flag went out. Chuckle brothers Dom Richardson and James Gamble were really happy with their runner up spot, they narrowly held off father and son team of Doltan and Ian Shannon. Surprise Sportsman solo winner was James Heppell, RAW regular Tyler Pinchin finished in third with Luke rogerson being runner up in that class.

Daren Girvan and Josh Dunn were the men on a mission in the Novice team class, Girvan now mounted on a super lightweight TC125 Husky went on to take the win, Rikki Harris and Daniel Harris were the justified runner up team, Grant Cooper and Nigel Mercer were delighted to fill the final podium place. In the Vets team class John Leith and Neil Myers were happy men collecting their winners trophy, despite the first change over being a little disorganised as John Leith was busy chatting when he should have been ready to roll….

A fantastic second round to this new series went off in fine style, the final round heads for the immensely popular Driffield MOD training area in Easy Yorkshire on August 14th, here the finale will run over a massive 6 hour duration, this really will sort the men from the boys, already RAW enduro have entries coming in from Scotland and the south of England as the big event addicts are set to use this 6 hour as training for the likes of Dawn to Dusk later in the month.

Big thanks to all the hard grafting RAW staff members, well done to each and every rider who took part.

For now the focus turns back to the Rock Oil Championship on Sunday July 3rdth where Norwood Teversal near Mansfield will turn into a hive of activity for the weekend, Rock Oil championship positions are all to play for as the Championship reaches the all important summer season.
