Fifth world podium of the season for Loïc Larrieu The Enduro Grand Prix of Spain was held this weekend in Gordexola in the heart of Basque Country. While everyone expected summer weather, rain was once again on the menu for the Enduro GP. In the first race Loïc Larrieu really struggled to find his footing early in the day. Still recovering from a flu virus contracted before the Grand Prix of Sweden, the Yamaha rider was not 100%. An average physical condition was not helped by a bad choice of moose. Down in the rankings, Loïc went up over specials from 25th to 8th place overall (5th in E2), which allowed him to score big points. On day 2, he showed much more speed and he managed to find the right rhythm to take a second place in Enduro GP - Loïc's best performance of the season and once again demonstrates his potential and that of the WR 450-F in complex conditions. Cris Guerrero his fellow rider was unable to sustain the good momentum of the Grand Prix of Sweden. Nevertheless the Spaniard maintained a very decent sixth in the E2 standings . Provisionally Loïc is currently fourth in E2 class only one point off the podium and tied seventh in the EnduroGP. Loic Larrieu: "This Grand Prix was not easy for me having to
manage the virus that laid me out in Sweden without drugs banned by
anti-doping agencies. It has not allowed me to heal properly. On Saturday I
made a bad choice of moose and I paid the price early in the day, then the
ground dried and I could make a good comeback. On Sunday I was in the
driver's seat from the start of the race, I did not let go while keeping a
margin of safety. In the end the result was good, I'm glad to finish the
weekend with a second place in Enduro GP. I thank the team for their support
and great job. Now I have two weeks before the Italian Grand Prix to get
myself physically fit," Cris Guerrero. "For me it was a complicated weekend unlike the Grand Prix of Sweden, I missed a lot of feeling with the bike - probably due to the type of going. On Saturday I had several falls which resulted in a poor ranking. On Sunday, it was a little better but I'm not satisfied with my weekend. I look forward to Italy to find my rhythm. " Marc Bourgeois' debrief: "The weekend was difficult for both riders Loïc was not better physically and he did what he could with a success as he recorded his best performance of the season Sunday! what impressed me most this weekend was his fight for the lead with a safety margin. I know that on Sunday he was not 100 % and yet he won a second place overall is impressive. Cris has missed out in this Grand Prix, I think uneasy on this type of track, it is absolutely insurmountable problem. He has enormous potential and I am confident he will do much better in the Italian Grand Prix. " All results of EnduroGP on www.endurogp.org Next event in Italy on 16 and 17 July.
