2017 Sherco Enduro Range
Towards Perfection
Mechanically advanced and highly acclaimed by the public, with a
distribution network that has expanded to over 70 countries. The Sherco
Enduro 450 is currently leading the Enduro GP World Championship in the
capable hands of Matthew Phillips. The Sherco Enduro bikes have become the
reference for the rest of the industry. The 2017 Enduro range demonstrates
this more than ever.

The presentation of the new 2017 Sherco Enduro Models was held in the
Southwest of France near Cahors. This region, which is known for producing
great wine will host the final round of the Enduro GP World Championship in
September. On the site where two future timed special sections of the Grand
Prix of France will be held was where we had the honor of presenting and
testing the new 2017 Sherco Racing models. It was a beautiful sunny dry day,
the terrain had some rocks, grass and other technical areas. There was a
long row of beautiful blue bikes parked under the awning waiting to be
tested.

New
Right
off the bat, the first surprise was that the SE-R and SEF-R have changed. At
first glance, it is obvious, the plastic is new and the blue color soars
even more, it is much richer. The new fluorescent yellow that highlights the
new translucent fuel tank is very apparent. This new fuel tank is standard
on all of the racing models, the tank is also larger than in the past. As
you approach the bike you discover that the graphics are molded in, actually
integrated into the plastic. This makes them indestructible! We also
discover that the frame guards are wider and higher, providing improved
protection for the frame. The machine is slender and trim, ready to run. But
that's not all. The factory engineers have worked diligently on what is not
seen, but these changes make a significance difference. For example, the
frame geometry has been improved, the caster angle has been reduced to
provide improved maneuverability, the rear suspension linkage has been
strengthened, as has been the rear axle and the chain wear pad has also been
improved. The 250 SEF-R has received a new forged piston, the gears in the
transmission have been strengthened in the 4T's, the inertia and the
vibration have been reduced on the 2T models. In short, the engineers in
Nimes, where the bikes are produced have been hard at work.
World Leader
And the
best way to realize what has been done is to straddle the motorcycle. With
helmet on and boots tightened, the bike soars out on to the test track. From
the outset you appreciate the smoothness of the new models. The 2T and the
4T purr quietly on the first meters at a slow pace. The two-stroke does not
hit as hard as in the past and shows a surprising amount of flexibility when
it comes to riding in the woods. From the first tight corners around trees,
it turns with exceptional ease. The throttle response is smooth and
controlled, without spinning the rear wheel. At midrange, it is a treat to
navigate on this very typical enduro course. At the first climb the bike is
very impressive, the momentum does not fade. When you open the throttle the
power of the 300 in wonderful. The 250 which was ridden on the second lap
was the same. The light weight and the ease of handling of these two-strokes
is amazing! Later on in doing some big climbs on the 4T models, I found that
you had to apply some throttle to the 250 to keep from losing momentum.
Normally, the 250 is the least powerful in the range. But this engine is
very strong without being pipey and delivers a surprising amount of power.
On the 300, you begin to appreciate its torque in the midrange while
enjoying its excellent maneuverability, this is what makes it the weapon of
choice for the Australian rider Matthew Phillips who is racing it in the
Enduro Grand Prix World Championship this season. The 300 SEF-R is an
amazing machine in every area. It is both incredibly easy to ride and also
incredibly effective. The 450 is also very effective, impressing us with its
demonic power when we opened the throttle in the grassy areas and the
straight sections of the course. The power just comes on strong and never
seems to stop. Lovers of fast roads and rally tracks will be thrilled with
the performance of this bike. This is the machine that recently won the
Rally of Sardinia in the hands of the official Factory rider, the Spaniard
Joan Pedrero. Our test made us feel good about the WP suspension units. They
combine comfort, cushioning and control in the rocks and other obstacles we
encountered at the test site, we were thoroughly convinced. We also really
liked the Brembo brakes, they are both powerful and progressive.
Once again, the Sherco Enduro models surprised us with their efficiency.
Whether you are an amateur or a professional rider or somewhere in between.
If you love 2-strokes or 4-strokes. If you are passionate about wide open
spaces or tight enduro races there is a 2017 Sherco Enduro Model that will
inevitably meet your requirements.
