Kingswood MCC hosted their 11th annual Abbotside Enduro on Sunday 31st July. The weather was perfect. Clerk of the course had to make some last minute changes in the course at the request from the landowner. Chris Adams dropped the flag on the two and half race at 11.00am. Jordan Ridgway took the holeshot closely followed by Derek Bawn. Gary Baker led off the Expert Vets ahead of Gary McCoy. 16th year old Freddie Box took the Clubman holeshot ahead of Ryan Nightingale. Half way around the 4 mile lap last year's winner Charlie Frost took the lead but the pack missed the new marking and Fred Adams emerged from the scum in the front. The course was a good mix of fast open fields and tight technical woodland sections. There was an optional fallen tree and scrap car to challenge the ambitious and entertain the spectators. At the end of the first lap Fred Adams was the leader, Charlie Frost was the 2nd and Daryl Bolter was 3rd, On the 4th lap Charlie Frost's rear shock collapsed. Daryl move up into the lead and Jordan Ridgway went with him. Charlie fitted a borrowed shock and gamely gave chase. Daryl Bolter took the win, Jordan Ridgway was the runner up and Andy Frost made his way through the field from 10th place to take 3rd. Charlie Frost finished 9th - only one lap behind the leaders. Grant Churchward was the best Expert Vet and Gary Baker was runner up, Ryan Nightingale won the Clubman class. Alexander Rollings was runner up and Paul Simons was 3rd. Freddie Box showed a lot of promise tackling the fallen tree and he finished 4th. Daryl Bolter Good day at the abbotside enduro today, took the win on a track that was fast and flowing in places and tight and technical in others, I was testing a few bits ready for the next round of the BEC in the Isle of Man, I'm really happy with the set up I got and exited to get over there to do my best, as always thanks to my sponsors and helpers Jordan Ridgway Had a blast yesterday racing at Cromhall. Managed to get the hole shot and lead the early part of lap 1 until me and several others got lost off the track. By time we all turned around and got back going again I was down in 7th. Within 5 laps I got back up to 3rd then Charlie had to pull out so that put me into 2nd. I could see Daryl who was leading so I kept pushing trying my hardest to catch him but he was just on another level compared to the rest of us! After my fuel stop Andy Frost caught me and passed me after a mistake then he had to stop for fuel 2 laps later which gave me 2nd back. Was happy to see the finish after the 2.5 hours and 2nd was a bonus too!
