Bawn again!!

Derek Bawn wins CTR Winter Series Championship Round 1 at the amazing and beautiful Trecastle on the South/Mid Wales border.

The hard charging and consistent super fast and race fit Derek Bawn won CTR’s 4.5 mile Enduro XC loop of fast blasting fields both flat and hilly, tight wooded land, lots of jumps and bogs and some tricky technical bits giving the CTR racers plenty to keep them occupied .

At the start - and after a briefing from CTR - the riders were flagged to do battle; Rhys Davies grabbed the holeshot from Derek Bawn and Bud Benny with Mathew Jones mid pack after a small crash and Gethin Francombe last off the line after a delay firing up his machine, Next released was the Vet Experts with Grant Churchward grabbing the holeshot from Gary McCoy and Caerwyn Ralph, Next let loose was the Clubman with Ryan Nightingale grabbing the holeshot from Alex Van-Dyke and Lewys Ralph, Next away was the Vet Clubman and Over 50’s with Phil George getting the holeshot in the Over 50’s from Adrian Evans and Neil Price grabbing the Vet Clubman holeshot from Adrian Llewellyn, Next set free the Novice-Beginners with Jac George grabbing the holeshot on his little 85 from Andrew Phillips and Grant Maguire as all the riders spread of into the distance all eyes would be focused on lap scoring.

At lap scoring 1st rider to complete the lap was Mathew Jones from Derek Bawn and Gethin Francombe all bunched up and pushing really hard, Grant Churchward led the Vet Experts around with Caerwyn Ralph and Gary McCoy a few seconds behind. The next class leader around was Ryan Nightingale from Alex Van-Dyke and Lewys Ralph, The Vet Clubman leader was Adrian Llewellyn with Over 50’s rider Phil George leading the class around and Adrian Evans, Richard Holland and Mike Crumb all bunched up chasing, Michael Clark led the Novice-Beginner class around with Andrew Phillips and Jac George hot on his tail.

At Mid-point and with pit stops coming into play the early leader Gethin Francombe had a crash and spent a long time in the pits with new leader Derek Bawn and 2nd placed rider Mathew Jones just taking a splash and dash pulling away a bigger gap, The hard charging Derek Bawn pulled away with Mathew Jones pushing hard behind and Gethin Francombe a few minutes behind with the rest of the super fast experts pushing and hunting them down not too far behind, Bawn seemed settled now and controlled the lead all the way to the end with a great result and another great result for the ever improving Mathew Jones taking second and Francombe running out of fuel handing 3rd to Rhys Davies, Grant Churchward won the Vet Experts from Gary McCoy and Caerwyn Ralph 3rd, Lewys Ralph won the Clubman with Ryan Nightingale 2dn and Alex Van-Dyke 3rd, Richard Holland won the Over 50’s from Adrian Evans and Phil George, Adrian Llewellyn won the Vet Clubman from Neil Price and Adrian Stagg, Michael Clark won the Novice-Beginners from Jac George and Andrew Phillips.
