Sealey Finishes Third In 2016 Enduro Youth World Championship

The Johansson Yamaha Junior Enduro Team's participation in the 2016 Enduro World Championship was drawn to a positive close, with team rider Lee Sealey securing the third position in the final Enduro Youth World Championship standings after the season finale in France.

Following his most successful GP to date at the penultimate round in Italy, Sealey entered the big final in Cahors confident he could battle for more Enduro Youth class podium success. Starting the last GP of the season by impressively topping the opening Super Test on Friday evening, the 21-year-old endured a challenging weekend of racing in France.

With the warm, dry and dusty conditions being far from what the British rider is familiar with, Sealey made a series of mistakes during both days eventually settling for a set of 8/10 results in the class. Battling though this tough weekend, the Brit scored the points needed to wrap up his debut season aboard the YZ125 with a highly promising third place in the Enduro Youth championship.

For Sealey's Johansson Yamaha Junior Enduro Team partner Erik Appelqvist the GP of France ended prematurely after the Swede suffered a shoulder injury during the opening lap of day one. Missing out on the opportunity to score any points, Appelqvist rounded out the 2016 Enduro World Championship season sixth in the Enduro Youth standings.

Enjoying the best possible start to his home GP, Yamaha supported rider Valerian Debaud claimed a well-deserved victory on the first day of competition in Cahors. Setting off to a cautious start, the YZ125 mounted rider kept improving his speed as day one went on to eventually place himself on the top step of the Enduro Youth podium. Settling for fifth on day two, Valerian claimed an impressive runner-up position in the final Enduro Youth World Championship standings.

Johansson Yamaha Junior Enduro Team's Lee Sealey is now set to represent Great Britain at the 2016 International Six Days Enduro that will take place in Navarra, Spain, on October 11-16.
