Ben Thomson wins Langdale 2

THE LANGDALE 2 ENDURO - Round 4 Putoline Eurotek Northern Enduro Championship

Round 4 of the Northern Enduro Championship returned to the familiar venue of Langdale forest for Ryedale Mc’s first second event of 2016. After a tough event in June, Langdale was greeted with bright sunshine which would make the 26 mile loop and 4 minute enduro test much more doable. The schedule was 5 laps for Expert, 4 for Over 40 and Clubman and 3 for Sports.

There was a strong Expert entry of 12 riders and it was ET James rider Ben Thomson who took the win being consistent on the tests throughout, also setting the fastest time of the day with a blistering 3.42 on test 3. Ben was also strongest on the going dropping only 2 minutes on the impossible tight checks. Alistair Griffin had a strong ride to take 2nd place on his KTM 125 after winning the first test of the day. Mr Griff loves the tight gnarly going and used this to his advantage on the tight checks only dropping 3 minutes. Darren Cousins had a great ride on his comeback to Enduro to take 3rd on the 200 KTM.

The Over 40’s is always competitive and it was decided they would run on separate times to the usual Clubman schedule - it was Kyle Deswert on his BIKESPORT KTM who was strongest on both the test and the going winning by a 39 second margin, Kyle was smooth and fast throughout the day and posted his fastest time of 3.47 on his last test. Mark Richie took 2nd place and was the only other VET to drop just 1 minute. Gav Elliot took 3rd place on his new 300 KTM a further 50 secs behind. It was a real shame for Karl Greenall who would of took 2nd if it wasn’t for getting lost on lap one, Karl was quick in the test and only dropped one minute on the tight check to take 4th. Anthony Crowe crashed out on test one and was unfortunate DNF.

The Clubman class who after feedback from the June event ran a much slacker schedule was won by Paul Sykes (also E2 winner). Daniel Knaggs on the BETA was only 5 seconds behind (E3 winner). Gary Morley made his trip over worthwhile with 3rd. Most Clubman riders went clean and enjoyed the day. Liam Crowe did well to take 9th Overall on his first ride in Clubman. Dan Culkin retired early on with an ankle injury.

Sportsman Class was won by Nick Craven (E1 Winner), Local lad Tim Cass aka Ginge took 2nd place and was E3 winner on his 300 Gasser, a top result from Ginge in his first full year of enduro. Paul Baxter took 3rd.

Over 50’s was won by Andrew Maben, he set a blistering pace and won by nearly a minute over just 2 tests. Gary Parr was 2nd and John Wadsworth 3rd. Neil Boyd aka Boydy was having a great ride but an unfortunate breakdown mid test put him 11th.Results
