Zac Millward reaches for the Sky
15 Year Old Expat is One of the Youngest Riders in
Turkey’s 2016 Red Bull Sea to Sky Extreme Enduro Event
MotocrossPark Kilyos, Istanbul’s premier motocross and enduro training
center, is readying British-Indonesian high school student Zac Millward to
compete in one of the most challenging international enduro events, the Red
Bull Sea to Sky, to be held in Antalya, Turkey October 6-8.
The
grade 10 student, who just moved to Turkey with his family in autumn 2015,
is registered to compete in this race that features such international top
riders as Jonny Walker, Graham Jarvis, and Anreas “Letti” Lettenbichler.
The Red Bull Sea to Sky literally starts on the beach in Antalya and ends on
the peak of Mount Olympos (altitude 2,365m), with riders given 7 hours to
reach the summit.
But that does not faze 15 year old Zac.
“I started riding when I was 3, on aYamaha PW 50cc and have been riding
ever since. I have participated in competitions in Germany before, but the
Red Bull Sea to Sky is definitely my biggest challenge yet,” says the
teen, who studies at an international school in Istanbul. “At first I was
upset when we had to move from Germany to Istanbul, but after I found
MotocrossPark Kilyos and started training with Sinan Memnun, now I have more
opportunities and a higher level of training than what I could find in
Germany, so this move turned out to be a benefit for my riding.”
“This will be Zac’s first race on his KTM 250 EXC-F. He’s a
dedicated rider and has been training hard.Red Bull Sea to Sky is a
tremendously difficult event and he will be up against seasoned
professionals, but I am confident he can make it through the Bronze Level of
the race in under four hours,” says Sinan Memnun, who runs MotocrossPark
Kilyos and trains Istanbul’s expat and local riders starting from as young
as 4 years old.
Sinan Memnun, who has won numerous national motocross and enduro titles
in Turkey, will be racing in the event as well, and will be bringing another
of his MotocrossPark Kilyos proteges to compete in the event.
