Walker fighting 4th at GetzenRodeo

KTM's Jonny Walker fought his way to fourth overall at the GetzenRodeo Extreme Enduro in Germany.

Entering the event fresh off his recent victory at Red Bull 111 Megawatt in Poland, Walker was focused on continuing his winning ways but a mistake hampered main event saw him slip from an early race leading position down to fourth overall.

Starting his day with the two-hour morning qualifier, Walker delivered a strong pace to ease his way back into what was his first traditional forestry based extreme enduro since the start of the season.

Riding within his limits he battled back and forth with teammate Alfredo Gomez for the race win before finally settling for second at the end of the two-hour marker.

Setting off behind Gomez in the five-lap main event final, Walker worked his way into the lead midway around lap one. But a mistake on a rocky climb at the end of lap one saw him lose valuable time, dropping back to second behind eventual race winner Graham Jarvis.

On lap two another mistake through the same rocky climb cost him further time and positions. Dropping from a podium position he was unable to regroup and had to settle for fourth overall.

Jonny Walker: "Today wasn't my best of days, but it also wasn't the worst. Ending GetzenRodeo fourth was far from where I wanted to be but considering this is my first proper traditional and technical styled extreme enduro since February, I can't be overly disappointed. I rode well in the morning qualifier and was happy and comfortable with my speed and pace. I felt second was more than enough to secure a front row start for the main event. In the final I had a good start and got into the lead. I made a costly mistake at the end of lap one and then again on lap two, in the same place. From then on I just couldn't regroup properly. The harder I pushed, the more mistakes came my way. In the end fourth was my best."
