Report Lisa Bolton I’m sure you will already know but if not, just briefly…since the last race report which focused on Red Bull Romaniacs, Paul snapped his Achilles in training in Germany on route to Megawatt 111. Hoping it was just a badly sprained ankle, he continued the long drive to Poland to compete as planned. Although he took part in the qualifying and got through to the main race, the pain was unbearable and he went to hospital the evening before the main race. It was confirmed that he had snapped it! (Yes I felt guilty for the "man up and get to Poland, it’s only a sprained ankle” telephone conversation!) Here is the video the POV video in qualifying: Video After driving home, he managed to get a prompt operation to repair it. He is now 8 weeks post-op. He has had lots of rehab and has been exercising daily to keep in shape. He is now walking independently without crutches and walking mostly without a supporting boot. (He was riding an electric Haibike before he was walking unaided - but that won’t surprise many of you!) He is more eager than ever to get back on the race game, but it is a waiting game to ensure he makes a full recovery. All being well, he may be on a bike around Christmas time and he will take it from there. No competing or heavy duty riding until Spring. This will give him good time to be strong and on form for the start of the hard enduro season at Erzberg!
