The open fell moorlands of Firbank in Cumbria played host to last weekends WOR Quad Hare Scramble that was the clubs wildcard round in the current Wulfsport Winter series.

The 5 mile lap was wet and muddy but ultimately it was ride able and sustainable for the 4 wheeled warriors to complete the 2hour race. The track had lots of boggy bits and plenty of off cambers , ups and downs and stony trails for the riders to negotiate and enjoy under the fresh and clear morning sky of the 10am start.

Steve Atkin (Can -Am) was on another level as he usually is and made the long, long trip from Exeter worthwhile with a show of supreme skill and speed on the big 4x4 machine. Even a front wheel puncture on lap 1 was not enough to halt the progress of Atkin as he cruised to a near 7 minute advantage over Runner Up and his mate, Simon David. Third spot in the 4x4 Experts went to Stephen Williams on the Suzuki 750 with a very determined ride after suffering a puncture himself , fixing it and getting going again. All 3 riders in class were on 9 laps each.

Stuart Marley was in tip top form too as he blasted his Can-Am to the win in the 4X4 Clubman class from Runner Up Shan Wealleans. Will Baxendale topped the 2wd Clubman class with a great ride to finish nearly 3 minutes up on runner up, Chris Pigney with Joe Cockburn securing the 3rd and final spot on the podium in class.

The farm quad class had Keeden Forrest out in front by a comfortable 3 minute margin from Gavin Bell as the runner up with both riders on 8 laps each.
Third place went to Harry Irvine on 7 laps.

The event was very well received by the quad riders and now as the first proper round of the Winter series starts on December the 4th in North Wales, this Wildcard event has set the scene for an exciting and competitive series of winter races ahead for the 4 wheeled folk at WOR over the coming winter months.

WOR as always would like to thank all involved with the event, from staff, medics, caterers and most importantly the riders that turned up and supported the event.
