Gas Gas Newsletter

We get off to a great start with this week’s edition of our Gas Gas Weekly News with the knowledge of the great satisfaction produced by our Gas Gas EC/XC and the Gas Gas TXT GP trial bike in the recent EICMA show in Milan.

The presentation of our enduro model caused a commotion at the biggest international motorcycle event held two weeks ago in Italy. This was a double launch of the different versions of the Gas Gas EC 250/300, complying with EC regulations, and the Gas XC 250/300, created specially for the US market. They were given a warm welcome from the both the press and enduro fans. This is our much anticipated enduro bike project, “Project Phoenix”, the renewal of the brand on a world scale in this speciality and where we have put all our hopes and energy.

Not only did our new enduro bikes win over the hearts of the public in Milan, but so did our new Gas Gas TXT GP trial bikes. This model is an addition to the noble line of our Gas Gas TXT Racing bikes, a limited edition that in just a week has become a cult bike for trial lovers. This bike from the racing series has top of the range racing components in almost all the engine sizes: 300, 280, 250 and 125 cc.

The 74th edition of the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo e Motocicloheld from 8th to 13th November in Italy brought along an endless supply of new specifications, both from Gas Gas as well as from Torrot. As well as the new models already mentioned, we were also privileged to see the pre-series versions of our new Gas Gas Contact, with electric start, and its electric namesake, the new Gas Gas Contact EGD, with initials meaning Electric Gear Drive.

The synergies of know-how between the off-road manufacturer Gas Gas and the electric vehicle manufacturer Torrot, since the union of both companies under the same parent company Torrot Group, has brought about the creation of models like the new Torrot TXE. This is a practical, versatile all-rounder that can be used to enjoy off-road sports with the advantages and a deep respect for the environment offered by these new electric models with an ever-greater range of use. The new Gas Gas Venturo did not go unnoticed either. This is a proposal that includes the participation of Gas Gas and aims to test the waters of the up and coming multi-use trail bikes within the off-road sector.

This was a demonstration of our huge range of products completed by our Gas Gas eKid T12 and E2 together with the extensive Torrot Kids 10/12 family, which includes the beautiful limited edition Torrot Kids S12 ‘Marco Simoncelli SIC58’. It looks like the new electric bikes for children from Gas Gas and Torrot are going to be the best presents under the Christmas tree this year. The safety offered by the parental control with the iOS and Android application makes this the best way for youngsters to get off to a safe start in any of the main off-road sports: trial, enduro or supermotard.

And talking about getting off to a good start, we are fortunate to have the help of the best trial and enduro schools in the country with the Pascuet Offroad Center and the Escuela OffRoad Miki Arpa. Weekend after weekend these two schools create a sporting base with Gas Gas, helping young riders into the world of bikes and pass on their knowledge of off-road sport. An example of this are the trial initiation courses the rider from the Seu d’Urgell has been giving these last few weeks at the Campus Esportiu de la UB, in Barcelona, where the young riders had a great time with lessons on sport and also life given by Jordi Pascuet.

Continuing on the subject of sport, our successful 2016 season is drawing to an end and Marc Riba finished off a fantastic year by winning once again the title of Spanish TR2 Champion in Valdemanco, with one event still to go, and made his debut with a tenth position in TR1 in Antas, his first date in the top national category together with the stars of international trial.

In the US, Geoff Aaron raced in the last of the eight events in the 2016 AMA EnduroCross calendar. The Gas Gas North America rider finished in seventh position in the final held in Ontario and finalises the championship in tenth place of the classification with his Gas Gas EC300R.

From Great Britain, we would also like to mention the first victory for Jack Peace in the senior category. Our Trial125 World Champion continues to surprise. He won the World Championship, he won the European Junior and won the A Class in Great Britain and last week he won the popular Scarborough event, his first in the UK National in the adult category. His brother Dan Peace was standing next to him on the third step of the podium and Tom Minta, British champion in the Expert Class in 2016 and also a rider in JST Gas Gas UK, finished ninth. Meanwhile Michael Brown and Dan Thorpe took second and third positions in the Northern Experts Trial, followed by their brand companions Chris Alford and Craigh Robinson, fourth and fifth respectively.

The JST Gas Gas UK team have just announced the renewal of Michael Brown’s contract, which means the seventh season for the British rider in the team run by John Shirt. Brown is aiming to race in the BTC events, as well as in the SSDT and the Scott Trials in 2017.

Last but not least we want to mention the incorporation of Gael Chatagno, the promising young French trial rider, into the Gas Gas family in the competition department. This department has been redefined and restructured for next season. We will be keeping you informed about all this through our official news channels.

And so it is time to say goodbye to all of you until the next Gas Gas Weekly News. We are re-inventing off-road sports with the flames of our passion for it!

Still riding.
