The weather was uncharacteristically warm and sunny for late December as
the WOR org ran rd 3 of their Wulfsport Winter Enduro series last Sunday on
a superb 6.5mile lap in their forestry compound near Bala, North Wales.
The track was enjoyed by everyone as it offered riders a proper 15-20
minute lap of sustainable winter enduro riding. Lots of new bits and the
course going the opposite way to usual created a very interesting ,
challenging but enjoyable lap for the riders to say the least.
Ross Davies was again in his usual super smooth and quick form as he
continues to impress and improve every weekend at WOR. Ross placing 9
minutes clear of Expert Runner up, Gian Sivori, with both riders on 10 laps
each. Robert Francom is another one that week by week is looking good and he
pushed Ross all the way early on as well as leading the race for a bit early
on. Rob topped the Clubman class on the 300 Husky and secured a fine second
place overall as he put 5 minutes on Runner Up, Paul Engerlen and Glesni
Jones. Glesni was only 19 seconds behind Paul come the end of their 2.5hr
duel with Glesni's younger brother, Sion only 9 seconds behind her! It
really was good close racing for those two throughout the entire race
duration.
Justin Jones topped the Vets A class from John Turley and Lee Chance in
2nd and 3rd place respectively, Great to see Turley and Chance the two great
mates from the Midlands back at WOR after a forced gap. All the top 3 Vets A
did 9 laps each.

Vets B victory went to Mark Heaton(Husky) as he beat off the challenges
of Runner Up, Lyndon Connor (TM) and 3rd placed Phil Kirk (KTM), all 3 going
well in their 2 hr sector of the race.
In the Over 50's its always a competitive battle and Adam Maben again
following on from the last round made that class his own with a comfortable
Victory a lap, on paper at least, ahead of his challengers. A real battle
was going on behind Maben as Richard Lewis and Gareth Jones where bar to bar
almost fighting for position. Runner Up spot eventually going to the KTM
mounted Lewis with Jones on his Husky coming in just 5 seconds behind to
secure 3rd. Again great , close racing throughout.
Liam Belfield on his Beta 2t was in great form and topped the Sportsman
group by around 2 minutes from Runner Up, Dewi Arwel Davies. Davies himself
is improving every week and deserved his 8 laps. Third spot went to
experienced Liverpool based rider, Neil Hawksey, taking 8 laps and the final
podium space after not racing for a while showed his class.
Gareth Davenport was out on a borrowed 300 2t Husky from his mate Rob
Francom and after being so used to his usual 125 2t, It was a brutal shock
to the system. However number 745 Davenport showed true enduro determination
and courage to battle on and take the win in the Youth class. Runner Up was
Young 85 cc mounted Hayden Rainford again another youngster improving his
skill set week by week and event by event with WOR. Taking a well earned 3rd
spot and rider of the day was Dyl Emyr taking part in his first proper race
on a Sunday instead of the Saturday Play days an doing himself and his
family proud with a superb ride on the little Kawasaki.
Finally in the Novice group it was Dan Johnson on his KTM that took a
very well earned win from 2nd placed Liam Hicky and Young Joe Hall in 3rd
spot. All 3 riders on 7 laps each.
The event ran like clockwork as expected and the track was revered by the
riders, another top quality event from the WOR team.
A massive thank you as always goes out to the staff, land owners, medics,
caterers and more importantly the riders that support the series and make
these events happen.
