The quad folk turned up to the latest offering from WOR Events' winter enduro series at the Bala woodlands foresty complex in North Wales last Sunday, to fantastic clear blue sky 's and very uncharacteristic late December warm and mild weather. Add to this a brilliant new designed track of around 6 miles a lap and you have the recipe for a superb 2.5hr enduro race. That's exactly what the riders got!

Simon Lang was in superb form as he bossed the big Can- Am 4x4 to a convincing class and overall victory. Lang took control of the race around the 40 minute mark and never looked back as he aggressively tackled the proper forestry Enduro terrain with vigour and his usual enthusiasm. Completing 11 Laps and setting the winning target, The likeable "Squire" finishing at the top of the 4x4 Expert class by over 7 minutes of Runner Up, Mr Consistent, Stephen Williams on the Suzuki King Quad. Williams matched the 11 laps set by Lang as did Third placed Simon David. Simon was going well all race and was the leader for the first 3 laps, and it was only the last lap after a big crash that he surrendered the 2nd spot to the silent assassin, Williams. Well done indeed to those 3 riders as they where the only ones to achieve the 11 lap status.

Will Baxendale once again put in a superb effort to top the 2WD group. He was flying on his 450 Honda and completed 10 laps, almost a full lap clear of his Runner Up, Bradley Price (Yamaha). 3rd spot went to Tudor Roberts on his KTM as he has made a switch over from 2 wheels to 4 recently. A special mention must go to Baxendale whom as he finished the Quad race, jumped straight onto his solo machine and took part in the 2.5hr solo Enduro that followed the quad race!!!

The 4x4 Clubman class victory spoils went to number 87, Dean Foster whom truly enjoyed every one of his 10 laps, Shouting and cheering his way around the forestry course. Dean on the big CAN-AM was 2 minutes clear of 2nd placed Stuart Marley (Can Am) after taking the lead from Stuart when he had to do a tyre swap early on in the race. Both Riders did 10 laps each. Third spot went to rider number 611, Derek Burns , whom also secured the rider of the day award as a nod to his recovery from some horrendous injuries earlier in the year when it looked like he wouldn't get back on a quad. Well he did and was his usual consistent self blasting around the challenging terrain and completing 9 laps.

Harry Irvine was the winner in the farm bike category on his Honda with a very creditable 10 laps as did second placed Oli Keen albeit 6 minutes down on Irvine.

The next Round of the series, Rd 3, the penultimate has had a slight change of plan with a new date of Saturday 7th January in a different block of the forestry woodlands. More details on this soon.

WOR would like to make a point of announcing there where just too many noisy quads creeping back into the game at the last event and again will state from now on the WOR Org will run a zero tolerance policy on those folk that cant keep the quads exhaust note ,Noise is the single biggest threat to our sport.

Again a massive thank you goes out to all that supported the riders, from staff through to landowners and most of all the riders for supporting the event and making it happen.
