Jamie McCanney Claims Strong Runner-Up Result In Debut
Participation At Trèfle Lozérien Continuing his strong run of form aboard the Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team's WR250F machine, Jamie McCanney earned an impressive runner-up overall spot at the 2017 edition of France's famous Trèfle Lozérien classic enduro. Involving three full days of racing in the south of France, the Trèfle Lozérien 2017 was a perfect chance for Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team riders to show their potential in a slightly different kind of race than what they're used to. Kicking off the event with a remarkable overall victory on day one, Loïc Larrieu was unable to continue the event following a crash the following day. Suffering an elbow injury, the WR450F mounted rider was unable to continue his battle for victory at the 2017 edition of the event. Following further medical assessment, Loïc has got the green light to soon resume his training in preparation for the EnduroGP of Hungary. Making the most out of his debut participation at the event, Loïc's teammate Jamie McCanney was a strong contender for the overall victory throughout the event. Despite limited time to prepare for the race and walk the long special tests, Jamie kicked off the three-day long race earning a strong third place overall result on day one. Continuing his fight for the win, the WR250F mounted rider got a top five result on Saturday. Taking the battle to the line, Jamie wrapped up the event earning second in the event's final standings. Racing along his two young protégés, Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team manager Marc Bourgeois thoroughly enjoyed the event going on to claim a seventh place result in the final overall standings.
Marc Bourgeois - Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team manager "We all gave our best during this edition of the Trèfle Lozérien, battling for victory until the end. Once again Jamie surprised us all with his abilities to learn quickly and his second place is a big reward for all his efforts during the weekend. That was Jamie's first classic enduro event and in less than 48 hours he was battling for the overall victory. Suffering a crash in the beginning of day three made it difficult for Jamie to regain the time lost. But this is part of racing and moments like those could happen to anybody. I'm really happy he got on the podium, he worked hard for that and he totally deserved it. As for Loïc, he showed he was a strong contender for the win but unfortunately his crash on day two didn't let him show his full potential. Fortunately, Loïc avoided any major injury and he will be back training for the coming events soon.” Loïc Larrieu – Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team rider "To be honest I am a little bit disappointed with the way things turned out for me this year. My goal was to win the Trèfle in 2017. I pushed hard from day one and managed to find a good race pace. Unfortunately I had to call it a day the following day. The crash was a bit scary but I'm happy I avoided serious injury. I just felt intense pain in my elbow so decided to call it a day. Luckily it is nothing serious and the tests showed I can return to my training schedule after a bit or rest. There's still a long way to go for the EnduroGP of Hungary and I'm sure we'll be ready for it.” Jamie McCanney - Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team rider "It was a super cool event and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the first classic enduro event of my career and what a race the Trèfle is. Marc and Loïc gave me all the information I needed before the event and then I took my time to learn how things work and what it takes to be fast. Travelling to France directly from the GP of Italy, we didn't have much time to properly walk the special tests. I might not have started the event as prepared as I'd have liked to be, but I was really motivated to do well. During the event we raced some amazing special tests and all the people from the MCL moto-club did an incredible job. In terms of my performance, I managed to get a good result on day one. Then on day two the level of competition got even higher and I did my best to be inside the top five. I think day three was my favourite. I got the fastest pace from all the weekend and was really enjoying riding my bike. Without my crash in the morning, I could have gotten the win. In any case, it was a great event and I had a blast.” The Outsiders Yamaha Official Rally Team would like to cordially thank
Pierre Boisset (CIMS), Fabien Domas (VOLTADIS) and Hervé Lecas (Peugeot), who
were present at the event helping the team in more than one ways. The team
will return to EnduroGP World Championship action at the end of the month
contesting the GP of Hungary on June 23/25. Video Day 1 / Video Day 2 / Video Day 3
