Charlie Frost wins Abbottside Enduro Kingswood MCC's Abbottside Enduro got off to a damp start with light showers blowing in from the west but as the flag dropped at 11.00am the rain stopped. Veteran Jeremy Box took the holeshot closely followed by Matt Jones and Grant Churchward. Charlie Frost got off to a poor start as he was pulling on his gloves as the rest of the Veterans and Experts sped away. Dylan Baynton's KTM wasn't keen to start so Dylan gave the bike "a damn good thrashing" which seemed to do the trick. From the start the riders weaved through a small wood featuring a 3 foot high tree trunk on an uphill slope. There was a longer easy route around the obstacle but Charlie Frost, Fred Adams, Jordan Ridgway and Dylan Bayton all cleared the log like showjumpers at a local Gymkhana . The twists and turns in the trees soon filtered out the men from the boys before the riders streamed across the fields towards the stream. A small piddle of water at the bottom of the hill soon deepened into a channel that threw up a good sized bow wave which reduced visibility but on the upside was refreshingly cooling as the temperature rose.. The neatly laid out course blended technical and open going that the top boys completed in just over 11 minutes. At the end of the first lap Fred Adams led from Charlie Frost and Matt Jones. Jordan Ridgway would have been well placed but he had left his transponder in the pits and he lost time retrieving it.
After two and a half hours the chequered flag came out and Charlie Frost won his 3rd Abbottside Enduro with 16 laps. On 15 laps Jordan Ridgway was runner up, Ricky Wiggins was 3rd and Matt Jones was 4th. The top two Experts Vets also clocked up 15 laps. Grant Churchward was winner and Gary Baker was runner up. Jack Twentyman was on his way to a good finish but he came home on the back of a pickup truck. Brad Copeland topped the Clubman class ahead of Tristan Young and Sam Wilson. The Vets class was won by Steve White with Ian Barnett 2nd and Simon Prideaux 3rd.
